They're OK.
Every single attack has a lot of recovery time and weight to it, Almost every fight is the equivalent of a miniboss or actual boss in a souls game, and extreme autism focused around attack timings and perfect positioning is highly rewarded.
The series has a problem that varies between games, where you spend way too much time between content you want to be experiencing travelling by foot or dealing with an interloping cunt of a monster that is difficult to run from.
