Same way every gacha for a pre-existing franchise ruins it. It turns a franchise into a waifu sim to pander to whales and porn addicts, and soon those crowds become an extremely vocal part of the fanbase that drown out all the others. It also attracts all sorts of dumb drama.
Just go into the Any Forums archives and look at the /pmg/ threads for the type of "quality" fanbase gachas bring to the table.
