better question: did anyone ever release a VR game worth playing since alyx?
I haven't touched my headset since then

I hope so. Not that I'm planning to replace my Index any time soon, but I'm curious what they've been working on.

In the puzzle space there's The Last Clockwinder, and in the shootan space I think Compound is going to be hitting 1.0 within the next two months

It's still a gimmick with exceedingly short-lived appeal.
Probably always will be.

there are plenty but I won't tell you since you are some casual faggot anyway :3

Name three non-casual VR games.
Porn doesn't count.

After the Fall ended up being pretty good.

I forgot to add; they aren't going to be out until later this year, but keep an eye out for both Bonelab and S&box. Both are going to push modding pretty heavily, so we might have the sourcemods age of VR upon us

Pistol Whip
Anything that is has music
Anything that is a shooter
Any games like pistol whip please

Outside of flight sims and sim racing there's no value. (ie cockpit simulation)
Presumably you are still pressing a button to move around, so what's the point of FPS in VR unless you can freely move in a warehouse sized space or have some sort of treadmill apparatus which is probably just as shit and wildy expensive.

Because aiming and taking cover and shit is fun. It's like Police 911 on super steroids.

>so what's the point of FPS in VR
A friend of mine brought his PSVR setup to a get-together and everyone played Superhot and had an absolute blast

>paying through the nose for a toy controller so you can play tech demos and party games
as a side note my grandmother still plays kinect bowling

honestly, that's a big technical hurdle to cross, I don't see how you could simulate walking in VR without having to move much in real life, maybe something like tracking pads on your feet so you could raise your feet and it would correspond to the movement in game? But then you'd just be walking in one spot, not fully immersing yourself
the treadmill is pretty much the only option you have at the moment, but I still think VR games are still worth playing since it is such a unique gaming concept and there are a lot of unique games that wouldn't be playable on a 2D screen
kinda like the influx of avant-garde games on PS1 and PS2, feels kinda like that era now, just a bit more subdued since the big game companies don't want to invest much money into the current market since VR headsets are not as common as consoles or PCs

eleven table tennis
hot dogs, horseshoes & hand grenades
prey typhon hunter
been meaning to try out some flight sims one of these days

should I buy Pistol Whip if I love Beat Saber?

I couldn't get into Pistol Whip. The rhythm part of it felt very vague to me.

I hope it's the rumored standalone device with pcvr capability through steam link for the simple fact that it would work natively with limb trackers and not the tedious process you have to go through to get vive pucks to work (and continue working) with Quest 2's air link/virtual desktop.

thumbstick motion is fine, and I'm tired hearing of this "fundamental problem of player movement"
