Not really. FPS genre is still luke warm and despite some good boomer shooters here and there its still largely shit. But now devs want to sell people redditsoft games and other genres so shooters are a tiny bit better and less common then before. If anything most games that tried to copy Eternal failed and were worse for it. Shadow Warrior 3 is pretty crap and tried to copy off it alot. Where as if it went back to being like 1 it would've been a better game.

Sorry friend. None of the mods for Half Life besides ones that became the few known games people play amount to jack shit anymore. Oh man a janky engine with funny but unpolished gameplay? Shit i wanna experiment with that! Meanwhile we see total conversion Doom games and 3D realms engine games to this day. Because people with taste would rather play a well structured game that is about the gameplay first and not about some janky "soul" second.
