Can we have an Horror games thread? ive been playing cry of fear and its pretty good, i really like the GoldSrc aesthetic. Ive only played a few horror titles like Amnesia and Penumbra, im thinking on playing Silent Hill since ive only finished 1 and 2
Horror games
Play Afraid of Monsters as well, by the same guy but not quite as good
Bump
How did Fatal Frame get so many things right?
And why arent there any knockoffs?
Do people not like Girl Horror anymore?
Play Nightmare House 2 for more source mod kino.
Oh shit i thought cof was the only thing he did
Will check it out thanks, mod kino is a whole new world
thread just reminded me, whatever happened to this guy. i don't know how influential it really ended up being, but the game preceded the indie pixel/lo-fi horror genre overflow and had a ton of positive mainstream press attention at the time. then the dev made nothing else?
before anyone goes full autist on me, i know pixel indie horror was already well established as thing, with rpg maker games like Ib and Yume Nikki, but this seemed like one of the first breakthrough commercial successes
I keep hitting a wall in that Penumbra everyone likes. I guess I'll try again.
Played through Condemned again for the first time in a very long time not long ago. Game's great, but it pisses me off to think of how shit Monolith has been ever since it released. Wish there were more games like it.
Anyone remember SCP Containment Breach?
Is this any good? It has a fan-translation, but I'm reluctant to try it because I've seen people say it's boring and not frightening.
Didn't it get a remake recently?
Good premise, great gameplay that doesn't take the horror factor off and even amplifies it
I've been playing FF5 on Wii U and it's a blast
i found it scary
it's not long enough to become boring
I'm playing Dead Space again since I'm excited for The Callisto Protocol and I want to compare OG Dead Space to the remake coming out when I pirate that
I can not tell you the number of times I've replayed Dead Space it's just perfect to me I never get tired of it.
Tanky fps games can be done. Condemned and HUNT:showdown being some of the few.
Its to bad Crytek kinda suck ass with their mishandling of hunt as a multiplayer game though.
I like Afraid of Monsters even more than CoF for some reason. The fast enemies and movement make for a very interesting twitchy paranoid experience, which the more classic survival horror nature of Cry of Fear doesn't replicate.
Is Monolith still around?
What the fuck do they do these days? last game I remember from them was FEAR 3 and that game fucking sucked.
>playthrough game on Hard, its great
>get like 3/4ths into it
>DUDE 3min HALLWAY BEFORE SPINNING HEAD AND 4 ENEMIES LMAO 2 CRAWLERS CHAINSAW RUN FAGGOT RUN NIGGER NIGGER NIGGER NIGGER NIGGER
>game fucking breaks and is forever in Windowed mode which breaks immersion
>try to fix it, mouse breaks on Main Menu and now I can't see the mouse graphic
>navigating any UI is near impossible
>Spinning head room takes 20 fucking attempts jesus christ someone kill me please
>still can't find fixes for those 2 issues
>game forever remains shelved
>im thinking on playing Silent Hill since ive only finished 1 and 2
you've already played the good ones then. try out fatal frame 1-3 (especially 2), they're probably the "scariest" of any horror games made to this day.
this game is pure fucking junk, pc gamers play better games. start with kuon.
condemned fucking rocks. it's a shame how the sequel turned out. the bear level was pretty cool though
THANK YOU. always thought this game was fucking dogshit
its only praised for being a half-life mod, there only people who like these mods had literally nothing else to play.
Man, I never knew smashing crazy hobos with 4x2s could be so fun!
FEAR 3 was done by a different studio. Monolith, though, now just makes schlock like the fucking Middle-earth games.
I prefer them over Amnesia, the The Thing vibes are great
condemned 2 is worth playing as well
runs really well via xenia (360 emulator)
