"we want the wii bowling audience"
just classic case of mistaking a passing normalfag fad for a serious market shift

Literally no reason to own one over a PS4 unless you're into brand loyalty. Microsoft cleaned up their mf act this generation and started making systems with actual benefits.

$499

Sony is unironically going the OG Xbone way with their recent decitions

>systems with actual benefits.
lol what. there's still literally no reason to own an xbox.

This, plus MS expected devs to develop around the kinect and no one gave a shit

Let's face it, the Series S with a gamepass sub is basically current gen gaming on the cheap. There's so much stuff to right there on demand you needn't ever buy a new game ever again.

MS saw the monetization potential in keeping a camera permanently attached to the platform. They couldn't control their greed and consequently released a weaker system, at a higher cost, to accommodate features that consumers simply didn't want. That's what went wrong.

We're talking in hypotheticals here where people obviously aren't just getting a PC. So Series X/S has:

>Gamepass
>Quick Resume on up to 5 games
>Cheaper price
>Better focus on porting old titles with better performance

Plus, best of all:
>You can actually go into a store and buy one

Take the Series XS pill bros, feels good. PS5 owners dont have any games worth buying the system for. They can't even use Paramount+.

it was too early. if the Kinect came out with todays tech it would have worked and been a hit

It got a lot of shit, and it deserved it, but microsoft was totally right about consoles trending to being digital only multimedia machines for better or worse. And honestly the kinect was a neat piece of tech but it wasn't good for video games. It works pretty good for budget full body vr tracking. What's funny is despite the absolute dog shit launch reception, the xbox one had a much better library at launch and especially at this point in it's life than the series x does, not counting backwards compatible games.

quick resume isnt that useful and also doesnt work well enough consistently to bother relying on it

Plenty of potential wasted, can be used to play VR. with the right software it offers a good option for body tracking.

It was actually sending full video back to microsoft

By the time M$ got the kinect pushed out, every nursing home, every normalfag, literally everyone that wanted to play games with motion controls already had a Wii, bundled with Wii Sports and maybe a few other titles. The Wii was one of the best selling consoles in history, so there was no market left to appeal to, especially because the products that microsoft shit out were lower quality and most expensive than just buying a Wii and a couple extra controllers.

>NSA spying scandal at its height
>"Hey guys you can't turn this camera off EVER and it always has to be online AND IT WILL NOT PLAY USED GAMES and we have NO FUCKING GAMES FOR LAUNCH!!!!"

I hated the 360 so I was almost glad to see the Xbone fail so massively but it got kind of pathetic.

Pic related, holy god Microsoft dropped the ball so hard it crashed into the basement from the top floor of the building.

The Series S is last gen.

>series S got zen 2 and SSD
it isn't

>Microsoft cleaned up their mf act
almost literally
all higher ups quit the company after the xbone
phil is the only one that stayed, its the sole reason hes in charge, there was no one left

>lol what. there's still literally no reason to own an xbox
*if you own a gaming PC
if you don’t want a PC then xbox is the best option and it’s not even close

>be one of the parties mocking motion controls for beings gimmicks
>see how they were a gigantic success you now bend the knee to them
>Also, you do it poorly as you never understood what made them click with the audience
Also, Don Mattrick.

series s does 60fps. last gen including one x and pro were 30fps or worse.

no it wouldn't. It's a gimmick with no market.

>Forced to use kinect that didn't really add a ton of value
>Weaker hardware than PS4 at comparable price
>No games at launch
>Besides connect, biggest touted feature was watching cable TV
>Always online connectivity

the only reason is by not being a ps, hard to call it a reason.
