I friggen love indie games.

What if I love indie games though

They're like the games I played as a kid but slightly less shitty.

Post the old screencap OC of Any Forumstan loving everything but he hates video games in his last comment

Why did Blasphemous get more press than Salt & Sanctuary when it is the inferior game?

I hate 2D sidescrollers and turn-based games, the rest are mostly alright.

What are some actually good indies?

For me, pic related is the best indie and one of the best games I ever played. Criminally underrated too. The dev would go on to make fnaf of all things.

I play more indie games than AAA. Have more hours of play time as well.

Sorry, I forgot the pic

Both games by Lucas Pope: Papers Please, and Return of the Obra Dinn are great (I prefer Obra Dinn).
Hades and Bastion by Supergiant are both good.
Outer Wilds is fantastic.

>indie game tries to be retro and uses pixel graphics
>doesn't stick to the limitations of the console it's trying to use
>the sprites look like ass regardless

INDIE GAMES ARE FUCKING SHIT
>OOOHH TEH BUNNIEZ OF DOOM WACKY PHYSICS
>CHECK OUT MY SUPER MEAT BO- I MEAN HARDCORE PLATFORMER
>EARTHBOUND RPG 8: IRONIC BUT UNIRONIC THE MUSICAL
>SCRUNCHY THE KOALA'S HAUNTED CONVENIENCE STORE, CUTE THING BUT LE HORROR
>"PIXEL" ARTSTYLE, SO RETRO!

Sadly, yes. I think the best indies are the ones that stick out and have their own identity like E.Y.E, yume nikki. even some of the earthbound clones like off or lisa do it this well.

Are recettear and sengoku rance any good? I'm thinking about looking into those

I’ve always heard good things about Rance but never played them myself.

Pixel art or low poly is very easy to do and most people are okay with it, that's why they do it. For most indie devs it's either that or shitty unity 3D. And most of the times when they go for something like unreal engine, they end up leaving their game an unfinished janky mess.

>all indies are shit
i am convinced this is bait

wtf goes through your head when you see
deep rock galactic, factorio, cities skylines, outer wilds, amid evil, hotline miami, a monster's expedition, nidhogg, opus magnum, titan souls, the witness
do you just watch game trailers and wait for "by microsoft game studios" and decide if a game is shit or not purely off of that?
do you just LOVE cinematic super-graphix kinda-open-worlds collect-the-crafting-trinkets talk-to-npc optional-fetch-quest AAA shit and can't play anything else?
do you use the word "indie" to exclusively mean pixel art solo-dev basement projects? what do you call games that have some budget, but were independently published, other than "indie"?

i only agree with factorio

baba is you
cruelty squad
factorio
cultist sim
