Lands of Lore, Kyrandia II by Westwood and Simon the Sorcerer II by Adventure Soft were the most beautiful DOS games ever created. Every single fucking screen of Simon 2 was a masterpiece, everything fit into the gameworld, there was no clashing of graphics, it was gorgeous from beginning to end. How the hell did the artists do all of this without going batshit insane.

The main artist who worked on early Lands of Lore and Kyrandia games died of cancer at a very young age just before Lands of Lore 2 was completed. Westwood lost a lot of its soul with his death.
