Symphonia is easily the best and only one that's very good owing to the more compact level design and some fun interactivity. The games before had shit like random encounters and the games right after immediately fell victim to muh epic huge empty space. Vesperia might be close second. The Tales games after Vesperia are basically 1/10 shit

i quite liked arise, played berseria after and liked the characters and plot just a whole lot more. currently going through zestiria, which so far i think is pretty cool because of its ties with berseria. pretty neat to see the same concepts just way way later in the same world. i wonder how i would feel about if if i did not play berseria first, especially considering that berseria released after zestiria

Im playing arise now and i am enjoying it. I loved berseria, the only other one that i played.

This game felt like seasonal anime. I played it to completion and it was a whatever. Cool graphics, I guess.
But then again, the same is true of all Tales games. The combat is button mashing (usually just literally spamming one arte) in every single one of them, so it gets old pretty fast and has fuck all strategic depth. And the writing is usually pretty shit too, most of it is skits where characters talk about nothing in particular.
I don't know why I keep buying them, maybe just for JRPG street cred reasons.
