>make quests*

Quest marker to nearest carrot.

~
player.additem "magiccarrot" 5

Center left if it's a game that actually allows choice, top left if it's a ubisoft tier brain numbing game you play just to have something to do

Grug want purple item.

No quest log

Dont have quests about finding 5 magic carrots

“Fuck you” but actually “ask local npcs” and turns into “can be found south of fucksville” after you do talk to npcs

the way runescape makes quests

multiple solutions
>bring some regular carrots to a wizard.
>buy from a herbalist. may redirect you to one with more expertise in certain areas.
>if character knows magic, local store will do
>druid sends you to his favourite picking spot, south of fucksville.

This is the way.

Journal has exact quote of where the quest giver told you it would be, if you ask another NPC where you might find the carrots their answer is also added to the transcript if it contains any usable information. NPCs are able to be wrong or lie to you if they want, up to you to resolve conflicting information.

Middle left, but only if there's a variety of solutions like said.
Are there any games that actually do this?

*Quest Progress doesn't move because the actual trigger is the act of harvesting the magic carrots from the magic carrot patch*

What do the magic carrots do?

>the way runescape makes quests
>hey I hope you have a guide open because you need this ultra specific junk item if you wanna progress the quest and the nearest bank is a 30 minute walk away

5 gray magic carrots on the HUD
you get close to one and it turns green

The whole point of quests is that it gives context to the mob grinding because people without grave autism get bored by straight mob grinding. If an item has low drop rate that just means you're meant to grind the mobs there for longer.

setstage carrotquest 3

like this user said or actually limit that certain type of item to an specific area, doesn't have to be from a single source but many like
>find 5 magic carrots, you can find them anywhere in fuckvillage
alternatively devs should add a sidequest mission marker so you can mark the ones you want to complete and always be reminded about them in a small sub menu

>"the witch might know where to get them"
>find witch and ask
>says she can make regular carrots magic with specific ingredients you already have because of runelite's quest helper
>(literally just purple dye ingredients)
>player character questions just how magic they are but takes them anyway. Item is named "magic" carrot with quotes.
>bring them back. 2 quest points and 10 cooking xp

this

That wasn't the first post you fucking reddit tourist shitstain

That was the sixteenth post, idiot

All of these at the same time.

Top left in menus. Talking to certain NPCs can add map markers for specific spots in a "this is where I usually look" way, and others that don't know will point out you can buy them in the shop.

I hate map markers. Unless they're placed by the player at least.
Journal entries and player placed markers are where it's at.
