What gave it the soul that 2 lacked?

I liked the cozy wood-like aesthetic more. 2's fits well for it's themes and art direction but 1 is very cozy in some places.

I liked how equipping armor actually changed the character's look, even if most armors looked like absolute shit

It wasn't a fucking gacha game for one.

>No Gacha
>Better color palette
>Better character designs that were consistent across the board
>People acted in a realistic and believable way as opposed to being anime cliches
>Anime moments were drawn from good genre and used in a limited enough manner
>No mood whiplash at the end as the tone suddenly changes; Everything is earned and follows a steady ramp
>The titans had simple believable rules - They were just sleeping Gods that allowed people to exist, no 20 minute lectures on what the fuck a Blade is and why we HAVE to care about being a driver every two hours
>Environmental music is hit after hit
>No slog like chapters 3-5
>Relies on creative worldbuilding instead of character moments
>Lows aren't as low
>Highs are usually higher and more frequent
>Revenge is a lot easier to relate to than bringing a girl back to her dad's place
>Fiora's love is earned and understandable, not instant and unconditional like Pyra's
>Character chemistry is believable, not forced

I like 2. It's just not as good as 1.

Better pacing. Xenoblade 2 had way too many filler moments.

Soundtrack was better for starters. Also, Shulk is a much better protagonist than Rex.

Both are equally soulful games

Consistency in tone and writing. Never went too extreme in both art and writing.

Chad hands typed these posts.

No titanic boobs

This user is correct.

>white people

>>Fiora's love is earned and understandable, not instant and unconditional like Pyra's
This is the one I disagree with because Fiora was extremely into shulk from the get go, but he was super fucking dense until she died.

Both games had soul

In the context of the game it wasn't instant, though. It was a lifelong relationship that they'd built up, they had history and comfort around each other. Love on her end was believable, you had conversations about "everyone knowing they like each other" but neither of them saying anything because they're both too naive... Which is a lot more believable than an immortal all powerful computer being depressed but falling in love with and granting superpowers to the first shota that came along.

Interesting varied environments
After Letftheria every fucking area in 2 is a cave, ruin, or desolate plain other than the world tree which is stupidly short

looks like he has a much nicer home than you

It would have been nicer with some flashbacks and stuff, their romance is
>she's your childhood friend, she loves you
Always thought it lacked proper buildup even if I like the payoff and the beach scene.

>No Gacha
Acceptable
>Better color palette
They have similar palettes
>Better character designs that were consistent across the board
Neither cast is consistent
>People acted in a realistic and believable way as opposed to being anime cliches
The first game is filled with shonen cliches. Shulk Reyn, Fiora mumkar and juju are especially bad
>Anime moments were drawn from good genre and used in a limited enough manner
Both are pulled from the same genre
>No mood whiplash at the end as the tone suddenly changes; Everything is earned and follows a steady ramp
Shulk is a macguffin. Nothing is earned from his plot armor upgrades
>The titans had simple believable rules - They were just sleeping Gods that allowed people to exist, no 20 minute lectures on what the fuck a Blade is and why we HAVE to care about being a driver every two hours
The titans in 2 had equally simple. But we had a lecture every time shulk got a new power our had a vision
>Environmental music is hit after hit
Same with 2
>No slog like chapters 3-5
Satorl Marsh, Eryth Sea, Fallen Arm, Mechonis
>Relies on creative worldbuilding instead of character moments
Both are important for a narrative jrpg
>Lows aren't as low
Both games have similar progression and execution
>Highs are usually higher and more frequent
Same as above
>Revenge is a lot easier to relate to than bringing a girl back to her dad's place
Solve the mystery of the disappearing titans to save your foster father, revenge for Vandahm
>Fiora's love is earned and understandable, not instant and unconditional like Pyra's
False, Fiora's was unconditional
>Character chemistry is believable, not forced
Most of the central cast of 1 grew up together. 2's chemistry developed and was more believable in the later half of the game

>japanese humor

It wasn't believable. Shulk was a shut in who spent all his time in the lab. Fiora had to drag him out from time to time and the relationship was clearly one sided

>and was more believable in the later half of the game
>characters start randomly dumping their backstory onto you

Nobody suffers as much as Melia.

Filtered. Come on.
>Shulk is an orphan who was dragged back to the military's lab by a soldier who was best mates with Dunban, who had a younger sister, the two would have met and been forced to be around each other all the time
Learn human opportunism, friend

Stupid birdbrain deserved every bit of it

None of those slogs are slogs.

And you are never SHOWN anything.
Don't full the filtered card, the game was super sloppy, I get why she loves him but I'm never shown why she does, you just assume it because she's a walking cliche.

You mean like Sharla, Riki, Dunban, Melia, Mayneth

Good writing
Good voice acting
No anime cringe
No gachashit
Better and more varied gameplay

You mean the original Wii version, right?

Fiora was better

>Fiora had to drag him out from time to time and the relationship was clearly one sided
Women like goal oriented men, user. It is very believable.
