A vocations level up system gatekeeping active and passive abilities already exists anyway.
Not only the level up system messes with the combat, scaling of enemies and fucks up a lot of bosses and enemies, but it also fucks up your progression if you want to compltely switch to a different class in mid game. This is particularly stupid for a game that otherwise would gatekeep progression through loot, obtained by quests avaiable at defined story moments, meaning you would have a quite steady increase in stats and abilities as you naturally proceed to the game, with everything finetuned for the foes you have to face in that particular moment.
They went out of their way to make the game worse, probably because the whole game is experimental as fuck and they had no idea of wtf they were doing with the RPG components

In BBI it's just daimon runs over and over again and at that point why even bother with gear, you've already completed the game.
