Genshin developers stated they were directly influenced by BOTW

Speaking of overrated games…

dont tell Zhang but Genshin Impact

The fact that open world games arent something that needs to be inovated on in anyway shape or form.
The only thing BOTWs physics and mechanics were celebrated for by the general public was those videos of people using all the powers to kill things in a way that looks neat.
Outside of that you have barely anyone talking about how the game missed a huge opportunity to implement something interesting to do with them.

Games journalism.
Someone on this board pointed out that its replaced OOT as the zelda game in the generic top ten list that every publication feels they need to put out for credentials.
1998 is primordial and esoteric at this point.

It still feels surreal to me that this game was received so well.
I am glad Elden Ring came along and btfo'd the open world aspect of BOTW so there is literally nothing about it anymore that could be considered better than another game.

Physics mechanics.

You can't climb in Elden Ring and the horse movement is a lot jankier.

it influenced nothing. it was a product of the already cancerous influence of ubisoft, rockstar, and bethesda.

it influenced the majority of open world games over the past 5 years or so.
it also had an even greater influence on the LOZ porn community.

I fucking hate open world
make it stop until we have AI to design passable filler content around 2040

I want tight and cared for open world, I don't know the term. But something small like Postal 2 would be fine if the map had care behind it.

even then, that level of AI would be better put to use on generating actual well-designed levels rather than filler in an empty grass field.

It influenced my dick to get hard when I saw the buff Zora dudes and the bird guy.

I do think the whole stasis + tree catapult stuff is neat but the physics don't add a ton to the core gameplay that couldn't be achieved without as well.

You can climb in every AC title since Odyssey (maybe even the egypt one, I didn't play it), that doesn't make it better/worse. If anything, Elden Ring is more impressive as it had to account for the player not having a super easy way to get everywhere, so the actual world design had to make some sense in terms of player movement.
I agree with the horse movement

You didn't play BotW. The way physics, weather conditions and terrain change the way you play the game have never been done before or since and ESPECIALLY not in Elden Ring where there wasn't even an attempt at making the world a part of how you interact with the game. In fact Elden Ring has efforts to stop you, for example if you make your way down a cliff face with no damaging drops and little downward momentum, it will kill you anyway by acting as if you just dropped straight down.

no one asked for you opinion fag

homosexuality is a sin user

It influenced schizos like you into making the same thread everyday.

Link?

I did play it, on Pii U though, which probably hurt my enjoyment of it even more.

As a base line, I would argue that both Elden Ring and BOTW would be far better without their respective mini dungeons/puzzle shrines. In both titles, they're just a dull time waster, used to fill up an otherwise mostly empty map.

In my opinion, Elden Ring as a whole just has a more compelling open world. Exploring actually feels rewarding with potion upgrades and gear you can actually keep.
I still think both are terrible because I hate open world games but yea.

In terms of weather conditions and physics affecting the traversal of the map, Death Stranding did both far better and more interesting, it's not even comparable.
