I like 1 a lot, 2 not so much. Hilariously, the space harrier segments in both are the perfect comparison tool. In 1, it's the usual homage to the shmup and goes on for quite a bit. In 2, it's a homage to the homage, is over by the time you settle in, and mostly exists to have an Arwing in the game if you use the Star Fox costume.

IIRC the director of 3 was one of the combat designers on TW101, so I'm holding out hope. Hashimoto, as much as I loved his art, was an artist that somehow got in the director's seat. I don't hate Bayonetta 2, it's just not as fun to replay as the first game.
