2006

2006
>Bethesda tries out DLC business policy with cosmetic Horse Armor for $6
>Gigantic outrage online about it as scummy and disrespectful
>Few countered with "well you know, you don't have to buy it if you don't want to.... it's just one item.."
>Todd doesn't back down

2022
>Game releases with day one DLC out the ass
>Some games as much as 50% or more of the content that should be in the base game is cut out as an "extra feature" that must be paid for
>games now a "live service" that have "seasons" which is nothing more than a longterm marketing strategy to keep shekels rolling in
>few games come out as complete packages anymore that can be played offline

money out weighs outrage every day, and most people dont give a shit

no principles for which they stand. most normies just see video games as dopamine hitter, so they're okay with paying a premium for their next fix. I wonder what the average normie pays monthly for DLC and new games. Must be at least $100.

Gaming got bigger, people got stupider. Voting with your wallet only goes so far when for every 1 person not paying theres 1000 more ready to do it.

We weren't loud enough, should have torn Betheseda down to the studs. Valve too, while we're at it, let's not forget who invented lootboxes.

Don't forget:
>Season passes that don't include all content released in a given game's "season"
>Multiple season passes for a single fucking game with an arbitrary separation to justify it
>Battle passes and aggressive FOMO-focused monetization to push people to BUY NOW IT MAY NEVER COME BACK!

>*contemplative throat singing in the distance*

the grafted the same principles that drive the gambling/casino industry onto gaming

You have to stop buying Skyrim every time it gets rereleased, you're contributing to the problem. As much as Todd has lied, I'm inclined to believe him that they will never release Elder Scrolls 6 until people stop buying Skyrim. Shitty practices but its working for them, people who keep buying Skyrim's latest release are people who ensure we will never live to see TES6.

so a mongolian

People need to consider not voting with their wallet more often.

We are 11 years into Skyrim's existence, the damage has already been done. The best thing happening is Starfield bombing so hard it makes Cyberpunk look like a happy little accident, but MANY people will buy it anyways because it has their logo slapped on the cover. If Starfield did bomb they would probably try to make it up with a familiar IP because they already have one notable fuckup with Fallout 76.

fitting that shitblivion be the source of this evil considering how it destroyed rpgs for fucking years

kino

Why do you do this? I can't play Skyrim again on any platform, it's a boring dogshit game that's over a decade old at this point.

Imagine playing Skyrimâ„¢ without the official candle.
