Why do some people want so badly for video games to be seen in the same light as literature or movies?

Why do some people want so badly for video games to be seen in the same light as literature or movies?
It's likely the reason why the West demonizes games that have sexy women. It's also probably the same reason why journalists prefer games that touch on things like social commentary in the modern contemporary sense.
Why, though? Who the fuck cares what people think of video games or what they think of you when you say you enjoy them?

Manchildren that desperately need validation and want their hobby (and possibly career) to be seen as something that isn't childish.

>Why do some people want so badly for video games to be seen in the same light as literature or movies?
because they're too stupid for actual literature or movies that aren't capeshit

Notice how no one has listed even a single example to back up anything they're saying. It's pure gibberish.

So, narcissism, basically?
The same people do seem to love Disney shit.

ITT: People who only play video games.

Because the interactivity of video games gives them infinite potential as an artform and it's heartbreaking to watch that potential and the indistry talent be pissed away to make Generic FPS Shooter 9999907 and Open World Fetch Quests Written By Middle Schoolers 805: Light Stealth Elements.

There's maybe three games per decade that do anything remotely new or different and even then it's their one selling point wrapped around a hundred hours of mind-numbingly generic dogshit. See: the nemesis system in Shadow of Mordor, camps in RDR 2, community structures in Death Stranding.

Gaming is full of many pretentious people and they are not smart enough for anything else, so they have to justify spending their time on vidya somehow. This is why those 8 hour essays exist and videogames are no longer simply about being fun.

The fuck is this even supposed to mean?

Good morning, sirs.

The question is more, why games shouldn't ever be seen in that light? There's coomer novels. Does that mean novels are all inherently low-brow?

I like to see it as there being four tiers for being a human:
Elder God Tier: Has been above insecurity since birth, was never cool, never popular, never bothered trying to be, and is the most happy without those things.
Self Improvement Tier: Had a phase during their 30s where they were trying to seem cool to mask their insecurity for liking video games in public, but has outgrown it.
Bad Tier: Never grew out of their phase of trying to look more adult by not liking video games in public.
Contrarian Tier: Grew into the phase of hiding that they like video games to seem cool in public, and really believes that this is normal, and the people who don't try to become popular have something wrong with them.
The Worst Tier: Started their phase of literally hating video games to seem more mature and adult, and never stopped.

people who want video games to be seen in the same light as literature or movies are retarded
video games are leagues better than both of those mediums

They want video games to be a respected and non-stigmatized past times and admitting games are just virtual toys wouldn't help their cause.
See

I think you're too dumb to enjoy other artforms and you're terrified of your one hobby eventually outsmarting you.

A lot of games can be seen in that light, but people will never take them seriously because of some innae thing that they think holds them back.
It could be cartoony graphics, a sexy lady, or even just a game that has no story.
The problem is that everyone is narrow-minded and if a game is brilliant, but has any of those things mentioned earlier, then it's trash.

These people need to stop pretending they're on some middle ground and just admit they don't want sexy women in games at all. It's so obvious.

You're supposed to post a Twitter screenshot as the opening post to a thread, not a reply. Honest mistake.
