Any recent casual multiplayer FPS games that don't have skill based matchmaking?

I enjoy competitive FPS games against people of my skill level, but I also like to relax and play casual games where I don't need to sweat my ass off with meta loadouts every single match just to have a chance of having a KDR of 1.0 or higher. But it seems like games like that don't exist anymore.

CoD, Halo, Titanfall, Apex, Warzone, Fortnite, every major shooter that I can think of has SBMM that forces you to sweat bullets and play like your life depends on it if you want to succeed. It gets so exhausting, I play competitive shooters when I want to sweat, and I play casual shooters when I want to relax, but now casual shooters have SBMM that turns them into sweat fests even if it doesn't fit the game's design.

Are there any recent FPS games that I can play just to relax and mess around with fun guns and loadouts like the older CoD and Battlefield games?

What's the issue with SBMM?

You can throw a bunch of games then click heads and go 60-0

The only way to play is tryharding and climbing the ladder, because most games don't even have another option to play besides sbmm.

chivalry 2 is what youre looking for

the server browser is very oldschool and comfy, feels like back in the day. people become regulars on their favorite servers, so you dtart recognizing names. the gameplay is very fun oriented and all about having a good time

it doesn't actually do anything useful for modes that aren't 1v1 and 1v1 modes are normalfag repellent

OP is complaining because he wants to play in lobbies with lower skilled players and stomp them
A better complaint is that they generally try to "force" a 50% win rate by making you play against better players when you win and worse players when you lose. While this is pretty much the definition of how an mmr system works, the issue is that devs don't balance the teams so that you get paired with lower skilled team mates while you're winning instead of playing with equal mmr players.

It's fine in balanced competitive shooters. But not every game should be an infinite skill treadmill where your experience is always the same no matter how much you practice and get better. When I play a game like CoD I'm not playing so that I can be the best possible player I can be using meta weapons and tactics, making zero mistakes, and being forced to have a 1 KDR regardless.

Sometimes I want to use non meta weapons. Sometimes I want to relax and not try my hardest. Sometimes I want to leverage my skill to go on killstreaks. What's the point of even having killstreaks in CoD if everyone is exactly the same skill level and should have a forced KDR of 1 anyway?

Why practice and get better at the game when you won't be rewarded for it in any way, and your experience will be exactly the same? Why put dozens of non meta weapons in the game when everyone is of the exact same skill, so using meta weapons, rather than leveraging skill, is the only way to succeed?

That's called reverse boosting and you can be banned for it. Regardless, I shouldn't have to throw matches just to temporarily play against bad players. I don't even want to play bad players, I want to play against a mix of skill levels.

I used to play a lot of Mordhau, how does C2 compare? It used to be an Ebic exclusive so I didn't really pay attention to it. I also prefer shooters to melee games but games like Mordhau and Chiv are fun every once in a while.

People can't pubstomp anymore.

im having an absolute blast with chiv2, i am in a similar boat where id rather just play a good shooter, but there is literally nothing to play if you dont want modern garbage or old games

Try not being bad at games.

We tried to warn you about the cancers of matchmaking, but you valued convenience over freedom.

Retard alert

I've always preferred server browsers to automatic matchmaking, don't lump me in with them.

does anybody else remember black ops 3 when they turned on skill based matchmaking randomly a few months in, and the community revolted so treyarch turned it back down/off?

you could really feel the difference in those matches, I miss old call of duty

oh yeah and to answer your question, compares to mordhau its more arcadey, but everything just feels more fun, you dont really rage, its all just about having fun battles and duels, experimenting with weapons, getting better and being able to 1vX people, hanging out, and so on

there is a reason why it keeps growing and mordhau keeps dropping, since its steam release

its essentially matchmaking like in a competitive ladder (think seige or something) but applied to casual game mods and you can't see your elo

What happened? People used to unanimously despise SBMM in casual game modes, now I get attacked whenever I speak out against it, and almost every major gaming youtuber seems to support it now.

WTF changed?

This, imagine if in a ranked game you could never see your elo. Even worse, most games with SBMM aren't designed to be competitive in the first place.

>black cocks 3
>old cod
god i feel old reading horseshit like this

I mean its like 7 nearly 8 years old. I think we're just getting old

Every game I've played that has SBMM also has it in non ranked play

average to low skill players (large chunk of bell curve) realized they're basically protected via sbmm and will defend it to their grave because it prevents them from dying so much in games. its also a twitter circlecjerk against it I think

what the fuck is with your fixation on sweating

its NOT sweating. not sure if you've been in a high skill fps lobby but god damn is it a fucking sweatfest.
