Nah it was just the peak of your life. Back when you were 12 and life was simple. Only responsibilities were homework and maybe some sportsball. Play games with friends and stay up late while mommy serves up junk food.

Now you have a shit job, no friends, no gf, health problems and a pessimistic view of the future. Games are glorified timekillers as death inches closer. They provide a fake sense of achievement and purpose to distract from the lack of fulfillment you're feeling in every other aspect of life.

There's plenty of great games but if you're life is fucked they're harder to enjoy.

I really appreciate the Wii now more than I did back when it was relevant. It was meant to be a full home assistant/media center in Japan beyond just video game console elsewhere.

It sucks that modern phones have taken over so many of these functions and just sucked out all creativity.

Wii60 was amazing. Ps3 not so much

Not that the GameCube was great but the Wii was pure cancer. A cancer worse than the GameCube ever was. At least the GameCube gave us Pikmin, Prime and RE4. The Wii was nothing but shit on top of shit.

This generation completely destroyed video games and introduced nearly every single anti consumer practice that people are sick of today

PS3 objectively had a better first year than the Wii, which had too few games. Motorstorm was better than any early Wii title. The following year was better for the Wii if you really like Nintendo first party games but the next year and on the PS3 continued to win and grow. If you missed out on this that's a shame, you probably fell for a meme or something. 360 was good until 09/10 as well, but by 2010 both the Wii and 360 seemed to be phoning it in with both Nintendo and Microsoft seemingly not giving a shit about good games. There was still some decent stuff put on the Wii but it all sold poorly so no one seems to know or give a shit anyway. PS3 was gold until the end of the generation at this point.

It was an OK generation, undeniably in decline. If anything the Wii was still better than the gamecube which had a pathetic library.
