They thought PC was the platform for hentai games and indie games, a platform primarily meant for ultra-NEETs. Jap companies releasing PC versions of older console games and Vtubers changed that perception.

Japanese are subhuman. They have barely any thought inside their head. Small PC is a miles better option especially for japanese, but they were being dense about everything that revolves around tech.

Depends a lot on the crowd you're talking with. Obviously there are outliers for everything in this world. But all of my jp friends play jrpg type games including mmos and they mostly play on console. It's pretty much a console hegemony. A girl I know from Kyushu was just recently talking about maybe getting a PC good enough to play games and that was a very maybe sort of thing and even then it was only for XIV.

If you're walking a lot with the VN crowd on the other hand then that's a different matter. I don't have any jp VN type of people as friends but that's historically a PC thing and from what you see around those people are hard on PC and will probably always be. A lot of the stuff they play is not even available on consoles.

Japs have been getting more and more into pc gaming since the late 2000s, it was only before then that they had no interest outside shit like VNs. I've come across japanese on several pc games since 2010 at least.

Japanese is the 7th most popular language on Steam. There are 132 million Steam users so that's about 3.6 million Japanese people on Steam.
