Anyone else who played and enjoyed 1 and 2 just feeling complete and total apathy towards this game? The more I see, the more everything just feels so bland and sovlless.

The only thing I'm not looking forward about it is it being on the Switch. I'm really over and done with sub 30 fps sub 720p in fucking 2022.

I will maybe give it a shot if it emulates well, but thinking of skipping it if it's not an option.

To be honest, I'm quite sceptical about this game, though I enjoyed 1 and 2. The worlds feels like like a boring fusion of the worlds of 1 and 2, designs of the important characters are very bland in comparison to the past, the battle system is more "Warning: Low semen" than ever, and the plot description reminds me of that bad movie "Time" with Justin Timberlake. At least graphics and music are still top tier.

While the character designs certainly could be seen "bland", I'm very happy they are moving character designs back from the over the top nonsense anime bullshit from 2.
Designs don't have to be over the top anime to be good, but people seem to forget this.

Yeah. When the game got announced I was hyped. But the more I see of it, I lose a little bit of hope of ever enjoying the game. The character designs and world designs look generic and the music isn't pulling me. I'm still getting it though because I've liked all 3 games up until now so maybe the marketing is just not doing it for me.

Nope, most hyped I've been for a Xenoblade game.

If it's a choice between the two extremes of over the top or bland, over the top would win out every time. If people like the crazy designs, then great. If people don't, it gets people talking about it. There's nothing worse than having your character designs come across as boring and bland, because that can very easily lead to them being forgettable. For all the shit people give Pyra, chances are if you're a gamer on the internet you'd recognise her design.

No. I played 1, X and 2 and 3 looks great. 2 was dogshit.

>If people like the crazy designs, then great. If people don't, it gets people talking about i
That's not exactly how it works though. X2 got lots of valid criticism about the ridiculous designs of Pyra and Mythra, and some of the blades.

You can't please everyone obviously, there are going to be people who prefer one or the other direction, but I don't think it's automatically bad that they tone it back a bit.
I feel people who call 3's designs bland are people who were hoping 2's over the top was going to be the default from now on.

>muh designs
>muh aesthetics
Who the fuck cares, I can't wait to control everyone in battle at once
