So, my nephew is trying to learn guitar and is constantly on steam. I figured as great way to help him out would to be to get him rocksmith since they have an acoustic mic feature. But the shits 30 dollars on steam and I don't really know how I can get him this game until I get paid. Anyone have any suggestions?
So, my nephew is trying to learn guitar and is constantly on steam...
He's a good kid and doesn't have any friends really. 12 years old and just talks to people on discord and strums smoke on the water 24/7. I really wanna help him out.
I don't think 30 is all that much to ask for the game. The DLC really adds up, though. There are a ton of custom songs out there, but you have to purchase the song "Cherub Rock" legitimately in order to play customs. There are guides on how to set all of this up. Look for "Rocksmith CDLC guide."
So for about $33 you can have access to thousands of custom songs.
This seems to be an up-to-date guide:

what the other guy said and should try and get him at least 1 in person lesson to get his technique good for the long run
Thatd be badass. I don't have 30 for another week though because I just paid all my bills. I'm gonna keep that dlc in mind though cause that's gonna open a world of awesome shit for him to learn when I can get him it. Thanks for the tip, user.
He kinda sorta had that already but nothing further than that. He knows the concept of cords enough to probably like this game. It's just getting him into it.
This is good for after I get the game but I need the game itself first. Lol
Own it, its not great.
You're better off with youtube lessons and just shopping around for music to see if you can find the little turd something to aspire to like van halen or whatever.
Then that's gonna inform you on what to purchase wrt starter electrics and amps.
Little guys gonna struggle to thrash on some shitty fender.
I think the gap is that when you turn something like this into a game, you have to use crude mouse navigation, its slow and laborious, when really the kid has the instrument in his hands already and can interact with it directly. So putting a game on it is like a disconnect.
So, really it's not a good idea to get him this. Damn. I thought maybe it would help. I can maybe compile him a youtube guitar lesson list that isn't stupid or preachy. Maybe he'd like that better.
why do you have to buy big tunes billy's song exactly?
Get him a teacher, let him hate him or her and he'll get gud himself
They'll rip him off because they'll be 20 od with "good experience" and hate his slow pace and song selection.
That flame will spread he'll have his own style his own intention and he will rock your socks off if that's really what you want
Nigga how do you not have 30 dollars
Bills, dude. I'm lower income. If you wanna gift the game to him, feel free. But to be honest I don't even know how steam game gifting even works.
The game's lessons are decent, though I agree actual lessons would be better. Hell, even Youtubers like Justinguitar or whatever have some pretty decent lessons.
The true value of RS is that it gamifies learning the instrument, and it's really satisfying to do songs after getting better and getting higher percentages of completion each time. It also has a number of minigames that really helped me with my technique. One of my favorites is scale warriors, which is like a beat-em-up game where you have to hit the right notes to attack enemies. I got so much better at navigating the neck without having to look and so much faster after I started playing that for about 30-40 minutes every day.

Honestly a based take.
Take note that you do not have to buy the paid DLC songs, you can pirate all of them. Just search for "rocksmith song pack" on pirate bay.
I need the base game first and I don't have the money or a way to get it. If there's a richfah in this thread willing to give me a code for the shit I'll be able to get all the dlc through the downloading methods above.
You can pirate the old rocksmith, not the 2014 version, has a lot of songs and play a bit differently but works all the same
ideally you should just buy the rocksmith 2014+cherub rock dlc though
cs.rin.ru
check out this thread, should have a torrent of the old game iirc
Thank you.
Jesus christ, I've spent over $100 on DLC for this fucking game. I never even thought about pirating them.
At that point you can just pirate the 2014 version (before the "remastered" updated that added denuvo, dont know if the denuvo has been cracked yet). The original rocksmith is pretty bad, especially in the readability department.
But how -Op
I need this game for this kid man
>acoustic mic feature
doesn't work without an expensive (or homemade) dongle
>Rocksmith 2014 (Update 7) + DLC + Customs
that's what you need, that includes everything nearly, can't find any links though, most are dead, torrents are not seeded, have a dig around if you can
>30$
that's practically free compared to actual guitar lessons
