Not even because the quality of the games but the fact we only got 5 mainline games and a small handful of spinoffs

The only good games in the 2010s was Generations and Mania, and they were purely nostalgiabait titles. At least in the 2000s, you had some cool spin-offs like Battle and Riders, and the Advance trilogy were pretty good. And as mediocre and jank Heroes and SA1 and 2 were, they are eons better than the tepid shit of Forces, Lost World and Colors.

2000's had worse overall games but it had the Advance and Rush games which were decent for the most part so I can see a "glass half full argument being made".

Except no, because in the 2000's we got Sonic 06', Shadow the Hedgehog and Dark Brotherhood. So fuck you even as shit Sonic still is now it still doesn't match the utter horror show that was the 2000's. As shit Forces and Lost World were they still weren't half as shit as the three games I've mentioned.

Not really. 4kids didn’t even change that much aside from butchering the music and cutting out a dirty joke with Rouge and Topaz. All of Sonic X’s plot problems are still there in Japanese.

All this thread has shown is that Sonic truly hasn't been good for over 2 decades.
At this point it's less "which was worse" and more "which flavor of shit you'd like diarrhea or extra chunky"?

I think dividing Sonic eras by english voice cast seems to line up more with the type of games they put out.
Where you've got the "Adventure Era" with games between Sonic Adventure and Sonic Heroes (& some other 2D games games that came out on the GBA)
Then you go into the "Dark Age" where they stared using the Sonic X voice cast between Shadow the Hedgehog and Sonic & The Black Knight
And now from Sonic Colors onward we're in the "Modern" era

Really it comes down to Adventure DX and 2 vs Generations and Mania... the rest is either shit or varying levels of okay.

2000s had jankier games, but 2010s did irreparable damage to the brand as a whole.

Sonic boom on Wii u was seemingly as glitchy and bad as 06 but sonic was already irrelevant by that time so it wasn't a big deal

By 4kids standards that’s absolutely nothing. Their edits usually drastically change the story. I’m floored that they kept in Maria, Gerald, and Cosmo dying. If it were any other show that they were dubbing they would have put in some bullshit like “Shadow watches Maria get arrested by the military”.

BOOM is far worse than 06. Just because it was on a Wii U which nobody had or 06 came first doesnt cover up its failure
