Are "gaming monitor"s worth it? Do you really need more than 60fps?
Are "gaming monitor"s worth it? Do you really need more than 60fps?
i have a regular samsung monitor and i get over 60fps in a lot of games -- and, yes, over 60fps is ideal; like 90
144hz is like heroine. once you go to 144hz, you can't imagine a life without it.
no you don't. unless if you are a virgin. getting used to shit frames barely takes more than 30 minutes.
i also never met someone who enjoys games while being obsessed about frames, not sure if there's a relation.
I've played games at 24 fps on the N64 and I was happy with it. Then I played them 30 fps on consoles and I was fine with it. Played 60 on my PC, even better. Nowadays I do 144hz.
I think the important point is that at no point was I ever suffering, just like right now I'm not crying about only having 144 frames instead of 240. It was an upgrade every time but it was never "necessary" to enjoy the games I was playing.
g-sync/freesync is probably the most noticeable upgrade since SSDs
If your freesync-less monitor looks like the left side of that, you may be doing too many drugs.
this and 144hz is not even a premium in price these days. you're retarded not to buy 144hz monitors in the current year.
This fuck 4K, get 144hz.
a 1440p 144hz monitor is budget tier these days, if you buy a new monitor that is worse than that you're just paying to throw trash away for these retailers
go for crt
1440p 144hz is ideal right now
not even top line GPUs are running 4k 120 fps yet for modern titles, and 4k monitors with high refresh rates are ridiculously expensive
I have a non-g/freesync 144 Hz monitor and it looks nothing like the left.
144hz is worth it, even if you cap your games at 60
1440p 144hz monitor
4k 60hz TV hooked up to the pc
That's my setup, you can choose between big ass TV that's better for 4K content that's lower framerate (movies/tv shows/some games) or good enough resolution with very high framerates for smoothness.
Honestly I have no reason for anything else. I can't see myself changing this setup for a long time. 4K 144hz screens paired with the hardware to run that still seems too insanely expensive.
Unless you really enjoy playing CSGO or you're going to keep upgrading the PC, no.
unless you live in a shit hole worse than russia
there's no excuse to cope over not having a 144hz monitor
both hz end looking the same when you get used, it only makes a real difference on CRTs.
>they both looks the same
sir you are legally blind get some glasses
fucking retard. your kind moans about lag all the time and also create memes about it, and lag is related to bad fps. stupid-fucking-idiot retard.
It just forces you to keep buying the newest graphics cards. Literally NVIDIA scams.
>Do you really need more than 60fps?
Yes
yes
Why does it "force" you to anything, user? You know that if you can't run a game at high framerates, you can just cap it to 60 and still have the same experience as everyone else, right?
60fps is a 20 year old standard. Get with the times grandpa
CRTs are dead get over it. Any pros they have are vastly over weighed by their cons.
>have a gtx 970
>maxes out at 1080p 144hz
should i even bother getting a monitor better than 144hz if i will have to buy a $500+ video card to use it?
60 fps is all you need. 1080p is all you need. Everything else is marketing scams to sell you more expensive shit.
