The thing with FF7R is that Square just blows at marketing and putting their games out in a consistent manner. Just look at the release schedules and platforms for FF7R and tell me that this isn't a huge clusterfuck. FF7R has its issues (time ghosts, padding) but is still a fun game. Best Final Fantasy since 10 in my opinion.
Persona 4 is good too. Fans of jrpgs should at least try both.

the appeal of the Final Fantasy series is dying because it's now just a meaningless title to slap on any product they release. everyone who cared about the Final Fantasy style of games were left in the dust the moment Yoshida took control and the fact that most people playing the modern titles have never touched any of the older ones only further proves that the genre of games Yoshida is bringing to the company is only hurting the company in the longterm sustainability because they wish to cater to the fickle western demands.
