Some old games like chrono trigger have some beautiful art and music, but the grindfest turn based gameplay is still grating and anti-fun tripe, and modern JRPG’s have absolutely nothing redeemable, X2 which is basically the biggest modern jrpg release is absolutely soulless shit where you catch half naked women like Pokémon and use them to fight some of the most creatively bankrupt soulless monster designs you will ever see as you make your way through one of the most uninspiring stories you’ll ever experience in one the least interesting worlds you’ve ever been in, and this is the one people consider the BEST modern release. Everytime I see a final fantasy trailer or something similar I feel genuinely embarrassed for the brain dead consumers who eat that shit up. I detest that the subject of “WRPG’s and JRPG’s” is ever debated because western rpgs are actual RPG’s with role playing mechanics while “JRPG’s” are visual novels with poorly tact on combat. If you consider yourself a JRPG fan you should be ashamed of yourself and try playing a real RPG like morrowind

You can beat chrono trigger with chrono being level 1, any level grinding you did was either for fun or because you're a shitter. 95% of JRPGs are like this as well, you can beat them while doing the absolute bare minimum of combat.
