2D sprites in a 3D environment is the ultimate video game aesthetic
I don't really have anything to add to that, OP. What do we do now?
Post games with the aesthetic.
I don't really know any. So, umm uh
Doom is nice
Prinny comes to mind.
Would paper mario qualify?
The paper theme was thought up out of the idea that "We still want sprites, but we also want proper 3d with the new mario rpg" (Mario barely even being "paper" in paper mario 64)
I don't like Sonic games but fuck this looks gorgeous. This would be the only acceptable case of >Nintendo (SEGA) hire this man!
The only reason this is a thing is because hardware was too weak for real 3D.
Go to sleep Civvie
>user realizes every artstyle, genre and gameplay was created because of limitations
It just works. I only recently started playing Doom and the various mods+total conversions for it as well as a lot of Build games. I enjoy them. I would enjoy the same kind of style in a variety of other genres too.
>NIS is still wasting their time with shitty DRPGs and Disgaea clones instead of developing a Prinny 3 or at the very least a sequel to Soul Nomad
Fuck this gay earth. I won't give them another penny until then.
Yeah. It was pretty clever when you think about it. Instead of just ignoring the billboard effect as some faux-3D like everyone else did they bring it to the forefront with the whole paper/storybook/popup book motif.
Nightmare Reaper
Too true, user. Way too true and correct.
Spider-Man 2 GBA (3D Sections)
Almost all the best things in gaming were created because of limitations.
