As an American, I always thought it was retarded, it's better if both species were separate because it opens a lot of doors on a universe that felt too small before Halo 3.

343 got hired to intentionally sabotage the franchise. It was too good for our timeline.

Microsoft did that themselves, still mad about Bungie shunning the books. 343 wanted to make Halo 4 a Halo game but Microsoft told them not to.
