PC Gamer just comes out and says it: prices are dropping so fast, inventory stock is building up so rapidly, and new releases are so close, that buying at MSRP is a mistake.
There will be heavy discounts soon. Even at a loss just to get rid of excess stock. Dirt cheap.
>upgraded RAM/Mobo/CPU via work last year >Could get PSU/GPU sorted now and just be done with it
Debating on it, but 1070 seems to be just fine for what I play and I'm not assed to mess with 4k yet or anything.
Eli Reed
You should have waited for 40 series bro
Michael Robinson
>40 series Not with the 50 series just around the corner bro
Jason Richardson
Don't blame you there. Waiting it out with a 960 would be rough. Nvidia cards age badly and that generation in particular did. 3070 is a solid card that should last you well if you survived on a 960 this far.
Honestly I have a hard time caring anymore. New card would be nice for Minecraft shaders and higher setting in Elden Ring, but AAA makes so few good games it makes the cost of a card less worthwhile in terms of what it will get used for. Most good games have all the fidelity of a PS1 or SNES anymore.

im not waking up 2 days in advance to go line up to buy one kinda regretting buying my 3070 a couple months ago tho instead of buying a 3080 now but hindsight is 20/20
Remember bros >3000 series announced >old cards dropped massively in price when a 3070 was faster than a 2080ti >cards released >nobody can buy any because of scalpers >old cards more expensive than ever And I bet it'll happen again, buy the dip
Gavin Hall
why? you saved yourself $300, now you can sell your 3070 for $300, and get a 4070 for $600 in some months that will outperform that 3080
Andrew Nelson
Same problem, had to get a 6900xt and paid way too much for it Fuck waitfags, just get what you need when you need it
Brandon Davis
>didnt happen with 2000 series >didnt happen with 1000 series >didnt happen with 900 series >didnt happen with 700 series >didnt happen with 600 series >didnt happen with 500 series >didnt happen with...
>but it will happen again because it happened last time, in the middle of a pandemic and with crypto mining profits at their highest, never mind those things are over plus we're entering a recession it will happen again for sure bro!
William Jackson
What if China invades Taiwan tomorrow?
Justin Martin
Yes I'm sure scalpers with all their bots already set up will just decide "ehh, fuck it, let's be nice and let ordinary people buy the gpus now"
Parker James
true, this is in CAD but sold my 1070 for 300 to my friend and bought a 3060 sold my 3060 for 600 to my other friend and bought a 3070 hopefully i can sell my 3070 for 70% of what its worth but idk if i even care about buying the next-gen of cards. feels like most performance issues im getting with my 3070 arent due to it being underpowered, it's due to most releases being optimized by absolute apes who dont give a shit about pc market
>he thinks the issue of the last generation was scalpers kek clueless
Christian Perry
Crypto is imploding and stock and secondhand card from the last two gens are starting to flow out into the market. May not see that happen this time. And if it does well back to 90s games then when shit was fun anyway.
Evan Murphy
what if one dont want shitty next gen?
Jayden Nguyen
How come there is suddenly so much stock when we were fed bullshit about shortages of everything past two years. Motherfuckers
Brayden Morris
the shortages were real but crypto crashed and people stopped buying them. but it also might be because the next video card series are coming out hopefully by the end of the year.
Joseph Smith
When the 40s come out, should I just build a pc with a 3090ti?
Anthony Lewis
>Just wait bro >This time it won't bite you in the ass >Yeah I know it did the last 3 times and you're still using a 1060 but trust me bro When journalists start telling you to wait it's time to worry, when was the last time listening to the media didn't fuck you in the ass?
Easton Nelson
Is it a mistake to buy a 3060 at msrp? I have a 970 now.
