Games Similar to Resident Evil

Looking for PC games in which you have to collect items/manage inventory to unlock environmental puzzles/different pathways. Doesn't have to be horror themed. Just finished pic related and really enjoyed it.

Oh yeah, I forgot I bought that game. I really hate RE2 remake bullet sponge zombies so I got tired of it fast. Still kept it.

What you asked for described too many genres/games, you need to narrow it down.

>Games where you wander around for hours putting green key into green door

You should buy one of these, OP. It'll keep you entertained for years.

well tormented souls is great and if you don't mind emulation and japanese furry shit
gregory horror show is fun

tormented souls is on steam

read.

I'm looking for something like this except a bit more complicated.

>RE2 remake bullet sponge zombies
those existed in the original re2's hard mode as well and even storyline/cutscene wise when you saw the cop with the mp5 not being able to do any damage on one, sounds like your just afraid of a challenge

But whenever they make a shape sorting box with more shape sorting, a bunch of manchildren on the internet cry WAAAAH SHAPE SORTING 0 AND SHAPE SORTING CODE VERONICA HAVE TOO MUCH SHAPE SORTING WAAH WAAH

So maybe this one is a little above your level

samefagging to add on, id also argue the tougher zombies in the original re2's hard mode AND the re 2remake gives off more of a feeling your fighting actual zombies, not to mention it has you think shit out more and has you decide which zombies you should specifically use ammunition on and wipe out in the locations you think you may revisit the most

been playing this chink game cause im a big fan of classic resident evil
it's surprisingly great, like a light, simplistic survival horror game.

random amounts of damage isn't "a challenge" it's the opposite, random chance.

Mount the ISOs of 2 & 3, and then run their installers like always.
W10's own virtual disc app may not work. If so, try programs like Daemon Tools v4.
Also don't install under "C:\Program Files\" ! This will cause issues.

For SH2, follow the instructions on the Enhanced Edition homepage to the T, and you should be fine.
The "Enhanced .EXE" is also the no-CD crack.

For SH3 & 4, check the Guide or PC Gaming Wiki.
The SH1 is a PS1 rip that you gotta emulate.
I recommend the DuckStation, which is modern and easy to use, but most emulators work OK as well.

>Protips
-Play in the release order.
-Start with Normal difficulty.
-There's TONS of replay value, so replay them all.
-Turn down the ingame Brightness setting, for better gamma & colors!
-Don't try to kill everything that moves, especially outdoors. Leg it, or sneak!
-Turning OFF the flashlight can really help w/ stealth!

>I really hate RE2 remake bullet sponge zombies so I got tired of it fast
Same. It also cut like half of the OG game's content, and the nu-script is stupid as fuck.

>that long ass list
>no parasite eve
>no rule of rose
>no haunting ground

headshots were always random
a lot of re3 is random
re4 has ahidden difficulty modifier

>headshots were always random
? zombies in re1-2 do not take anywhere near the amount of shots as re2 remake. less than half. it ruins the game by making the guns feel stupid and too much randomness

>a lot of re3 is random
re3 is bad
>hidden difficulty modifier
point being?

Don't play Silent Hill 2 PC btw because the dev is still optimizing it

>zombies in re1-2 do not take anywhere near the amount of shots as re2 remake. less than half.
Thats neither here nor there. old resident evils had random amounts of damage and thats the exact thing you supposedly hate in re2 remake
>re3 is bad
why exactly?
>point being?
point is that re2 remake is the same in that regard

>Thats neither here nor there.

that was my ORIGINAL FUCKING SENTIMENT THAT YOU'RE RESPONDING TO A POST CHAIN ABOUT, DUMBFUCK

god i hate fucking zoomers

this is about right, but it should also be scary.

There is no reason NOT to play the game.
The PC port + EE is already the definitive version. There's zero need to "optimize" jack shit.

>no parasite eve
More of a JRPG, but still goodie
>no rule of rose
Never played it, because I don't have extra 600 bucks to spend. Also is it REALLY a RE-clone?
>no haunting ground
that's a Clock Tower clone, not quite Resident Evil.

>old resident evils had random amounts of damage and thats the exact thing you supposedly hate in re2 remake
That is incorrect. Classic Resis have a VERY set damage values, with static HP set for each monster. DEmake2 just fucks you up if you play too well, and starts pampering you if you suck.

In general, every single thing was downgraded and butchered in the de-makes. They're literally made for people who have never played a Resident Evil game, and would HATE the classics with passion.

>random amounts of damage isn't "a challenge" it's the opposite, random chance.

>Never played it, because I don't have extra 600 bucks to spend

? emulate it

>There's zero need to "optimize" jack shit.
Silent Hill 2: Enhanced Edition isn't finished and I'm not going to play Silent Hill games which aged like fucking milk

>Silent Hill 2: Enhanced Edition isn't finished
EE surpassed the ps2 version years ago
there isn't anything left to finish, just minor tying up loose ends that (You) wouldn't even notice because you don't know the finer details

I noticed the frame stutters and the game crashing on the first screen

>VERY set damage values
headshots
>static HP set for each monster
factually not true
>DEmake2 just fucks you up if you play too well, and starts pampering you if you suck.
re4 does the same

not headshots. i meant critical hits. fuck me

most of the time you'll get a headshot can be rare
>zombies in re1-2 do not take anywhere near the amount of shots as re2 remake.
on 1998 re2's hard mode they take EVEN MORE, the mac-11 does literally jackshit on them

>hard mdoe

why do you keep bringing up something that I wasn't talking about? who the fuck cares about a hard mode that the game is not built/balanced around

the REALITY of the situation is that re2 remake zombies take 2x the shots of re1/2 and it feels extremely bad. fucking period. stop beating around the bush with "but uhh"
