Journalists and critics are all paid shills, we've known this for almost a decade.

higher marketing budgets and growing discontent among the silent majority of users, not to mention petty review bombing getting more popular

That graph shows a pretty small frame of values

It’s become the norm for reviewers to be more generous with their scores, either due to not wanting to upset relationships with big devs or not wanting to upset a fanbase. It’s rare for a major reviewer to give a score below a 7 nowadays, even if the game is shit

what happened in 2010?

what's the saurse

Internet and youtube made journos obsolete.

Nice thread
I rate it 7/10

Internet is melting people brain and recreationnal outrage is a hobby to more and more people. The majority of bad review usually come from people who played for less than 5 hours or never played the games at all.

Kotaku

Ukraine is splitting apart?

What the fuck happened in 2007 that caused critics and users to hate everything?

The troop surge in Iraq

Scores are inflated a 50% should be considered average but in truth its an unplayable game. Besides that ya journalist are increasing bribed and paid to give good scores. Even the game is a big release even if its an unplayable clusterfuck of a release if that game publisher buys ads on your site your giving it the minimum demanded score. Consumers have more of a voice now and they can express displeasure over things and its not enough to make an ok game anymore you have to surpass what came before and more often then not new games have flashier graphics maybe and less features.
Bit of a bonus but the massive dip in the early 2000s is because the early HD generation was a complete clusterfuck where no one knew what the fuck they were doing and all games were barely functing messes with about 1/10th the features they promised.

I would tell you OP, but you wouldn't believe me

Remember when people got all pissed off on how the game media and game creators/publishers were in cahoots and they called the pissed off people racists and bigots instead of being reliable companies. Well turns out it was all true.

Dunno about that one.
Take The Outer Worlds.
Critics slobbered all over its knob.
It was objectively low effort garbage

Sucks how "fanbase" became synonymous with "hatedom" at some point. Can you really call yourself a fan if you're unwilling to overlook anything and pick apart every little detail you dislike?

Looks pretty obvious, on average more money was put towards advertising a game rather than its development, advertising would include paying journos to write good reviews.

journalists think they're helping developers after the bethesda and obsidian payment thing
users like to try making number go red because they think it's funny

number ratings aren't genuine in the first place

journos are getting paid-off more, while games are actually getting shitter
its not rocket surgery
