>Fair attack animations? Consistent recovery? Frame advantage? Punishing windows? What's that lol, just have the boss do 10 hit strings with 5 different variations of it at every second, no trade offs or anything, just bonk the boss on the off chance that he did the axe swing that didnt follow up with the supplex uppercut, the players will love it!
The souls series was both the best thing that happened to gaming and the worst, in one hand we have incompetent piece of shit developers trying to replicate the "souls formula" but always end up making pretentious garbage with the sole view of "its hard and dark and sad and le hopeless", on the other, we have the retarded low fucking IQ playerbase that thinks boss fights are the one and only sole purpose of this series existence, that if they are fighting myrmidon of loss and dont take 10 days to avoid and learn his 10 hit spastic string that ends with an instakill, then its a "badly designed and lazy boss", this just sacrifices any kind of originality and creativity that comes with designing areas and interconnecting them, all because Vaatiredditorgamer6000 didnt take 10 days to beat a boss.
Fuck this.
Fair attack animations? Consistent recovery? Frame advantage? Punishing windows? What's that lol...
100% correct.
*takes a deep breath* to me it seems *licks lips vigorously* that you spent a good time coming up with this *clears vocal cords* as this seems important to you all I want to say is *smacks lips*
GIT GUD.
Ok, what was your build?
Beat the whole game with a zweihander and no summons.
Learn how to dodge.
Take the Shortbow pill
>Barrage to open the fight and pozz the boss
>Jump, shoot, shoot again immediately on landing
>Enemy tries to attack? Roll away and shoot immediately after rolling
It combines the best parts of being an evasive queer with the best parts of being a ranged character, no "try to cast a spell and eat shit because you're animation locked".
I just wish Crossbows could roll-shoot if two handed, they're definitely usable this time around but just too cumbersome to use as a main weapon.
Bro just perfectly dodge every single attack in the 17-hit combo so you can get your 1.5 hits in, just memorize which hits you have to dodge immediately and which hits have an unnatural stupid looking delay that makes you get hit if you dodge immediately, just do this for every single enemy and boss in the game until you get sick of this fucking bullshit and faceroll it with cheese bro
Mad cuz bad lol
Dual wield River of Blood and Moonveil build. I also use mimic tear spirit summon. Git gud.
Most things in this game were fair. There are some BS enemies and bosses and areas but those were in the minority. Sadly the bad parts stick out because it feels bad to lose to cheap bullshit, but thankfully the game offers tools to overcome the nonsense. I use NPC summons or ashes when something unnecessarily difficult comes my way and I don't progress otherwise. Most of the things in the game I have been able to overcome with my greataxe, greatshield, greatbow and incantations though and I've had a blast
Tiche. That's the build.
Valid criticism, but the way you presented it makes you look like a salty bitch.
>Tiche
Based ticheChads carrying our asses since Day 1
>always play a jack of all trades build
>get Str and Dex enough to use a long sword and bow
>everything else into int and Faith
>occasional vit and end
>can change strategy based on the situation
>fire and lightning if they're resistant to magic, infusions and weapon enchants if I need to melee
>always do good so far in past souls game
>play elden ring
>do okay at start
>get to around Caelid
>even regulars enemies one-shot me now
>low damage output
>go online
>finds out game jack of all trades are no longer recomended
should I just reroll my guy?
To even get Tiche, you need to beat a boss harder than most bosses
Nah, OP is right
The worst part about this is the ammount of newfags that came in with this entry, literally cheering on the use of spirit ashes, a summon system that has absolutely zero risk and extremely high rewards, summoning used to be a thing in previous souls games yes, but the way ER did it this time around worries me, because alot of the fights really are just built around this mechanic and people need to start to realize how much the "i use spirit ashes and its ok" narrative hurts the design philosophy of these games.
But Elden Ring has some of the best designed areas in the series.
Also don't forget to report to your superior after your dilation session!
>because alot of the fights really are just built around this mechanic
only some minor ones, like the gargoyles or the duo crucible knights
You’re spreading your levels too thin, invest in Vigor.
I just solo'd the twin crucible knights and it's completely doable. They tweaked the AI so that they take turns attacking you, it flows really well
Astel's not THAT bad, user.
You don't need both STR and DEX to do a swiss army knife man, one of the other is fine. And put points in vigor.
the vast majority of the game can be soloed without too much unbelievable difficulty even using slower weapons. Yes I agree there are a bunch of gank bosses and some less than fair bosses with their input reading or unlimited stamina or super quick attacks. But the absolute majority of the game is fair and dare I say enjoyable
Nah there's alot of relentlessly agressive fights in the game that aside from the fact that they will never stop spamming movesets, have some kind of incredibly obnoxious factor to mix it in, like the arena you fight in for example (i cant remember the name but that worm looking thing is a great example of this, shit was literally clipping through the walls and its not even a particularly hard boss, it was made difficult by the fact of its relentless aggro+incredibly closed off space).
I understand that they probably thought about the fact that they wanted to encourage multiplayer and probably ganging up with your friends to take out some of these duos, but the fact is, we are talking about a game with a fucked up matchmaking, spirit ashes that end up being a cheaper and sometimes even better alternative and just generally very shitty rewards when it comes to loot that you get on both pvp and pve.
Tbh the game got a few patches and some bosses got nerfed, vanilla month 1 ER was incredibly bullshit at times, did the platinum in month 1 and some bosses made me want to rip my head off
I knew it. Kind of sucks that he game sort of soft locks you into certain playstyles for PvE. Also kind of sucks that PvP and PvE has such differing style of play. And the dex was just enough to use a longbow so I could kite enemies or proc status effect with arrows,
This
Boss does all kind of fun with giant leaps, high jumps, +7 hit combos all sorts of cool stuff
Meanwhile (you)
>jump 1cm high
>retarded input que
>stamina
>can do only 4-5 hit combo
>can only land 1-2 hit before boss jumps away
Fucking retards put sekiro tier enemies in terms of aggression in a game while elden fart protagonist is stuck with des movement
I realized the hard way that you need fuckloads of vigor in this game. Oh and using a shield to block is often the best strategy and can totally invalidate certain enemies. The new guard counter mechanic flows pretty well into this too. I love my Erdtree Greatshield!
post things that scare soulscucks
Some of the boss design is ER is pretty shyte. I’ve beaten the game 3 times now and the tail end is filled with bullshit that is either really hard to react to or just down right malicious. On my 3rd bleed run when I went to fight Morgott I wanted to test his move set because I wanted to genuinely know how to approach him. He’s got so many fucking delay moves or attacks that auto read your position or attacks and goes into instant spazz counters. I’m all for bosses being difficult and hard to read but some of these designs feel like someone hit 11 on the how much bullshit should a boss be meter. It’s different in Sekiro because the parry is a meta game within the actual fight so instead of watching gods do anime combos till you get a sliver of an opening you can parry and deal a sorta passive damage that builds up and requires you to be an active agent within the moment. Being able to scratch Godfrey and then roll around for 30 seconds before scratching him again feels like you have 0 command of the combat. I love ER with all my fucking soul but it’s combat in parts feels like a step down. I do feel like the Ash of War system is fucking based but it sucks that some are so slow that finding openings is a matter of exploiting really dumb AI moments. I feel like there isn’t a middle ground because we keep getting better and From has to keep upping the bullshit.
