>the entire appeal of the main game is the horror and intensity of exploring a dangerous vast oceanic world where you could explore dark depths and encounter scary alien monsters
>instead of expanding on that the sequel instead removes all intensity and makes it safer for the sake of "accessibility"
fucking why?
The entire appeal of the main game is the horror and intensity of exploring a dangerous vast oceanic world where you...
lefty devs
Really, tell me where in leftist doctrine it says to make games easier? You chuds need to read a fucking book for once in your life
You come to Any Forums for an answer and get pissy when you get one, fuck off and go back wherever you came from.
its not about making it easier, it's about removing the intensity and stressful of exploration
>tell me where in leftist doctrine it says to make games easier?
Difficulty is ableism. Making a game easier makes it more inclusive.
>You chuds need to read a fucking book for once in your life
Oh the irony.
Have you've done anything difficult in life? There's your proof, and I'm laughing.
Leftists want maximum inclusiveness, by extension maximum participation since the socialist structure needs to leech off of every possible person to successfully leverage an economy.
Inclusiveness in this case is making the game easier and more accessible to people who suck at games, or get scared easily to the point it prevents them from playing the games.
Also simpler narrative and gameplay design makes it easier to casually get into without being too deep and requiring too much investment or thought.
These things are intended to create a more equitable player base, the ultimate goal of leftist approach to game design.
>since the socialist structure needs to leech off of every possible person to successfully leverage an economy.
Spoken like a true retard, socialism is the collective ownership of the means of production. Has nothing to do with leeching off of anyone, capitalism unironically leeches off the worker and their labor.
>Inclusiveness in this case is making the game easier and more accessible to people who suck at games
I feel like this is completely untrue in this case, but I fail to see why this is a bad thing unless you're a L33T gamer sub-human devoid of empathy.
what the fuck is going on in this thread?
second subnautica was just as scary as first, if not scarier
you don't need to invent reasons to shit on this game, it has plenty of flaws already
>the entire appeal of the main game is the horror
I wouldn't say that, it had a lot of room for contemplation and wonder.
>instead of expanding on that the sequel instead removes all intensity and makes it safer for the sake of "accessibility"
It was not done for the sake of accessibility. It was literally because the game's focus was shifted on showcasing the developers extremely forward, progressive and important political views. The fact that the difficulty ended up being on the wayside is an unintentional side-effect.
The dev went mad. I've been following the game and the studio from the earliest release of OG Subnautica. Sand into glass, proc-gen map in the console era.
The dev went mental because he was swept up in the moral outrage of 2016-ish. The fact that the game was consistently targeted by retards demanding guns and posting la creatura memes probably played a significant part in that as well.
The lead dev completely lost it, and became obsessed with making a statement of his own. Everything was re-designed showel those political views into your face. Every aspect of the game. Basic shit like removing gloves from the player character so that player would be consistently reminded that she is black. I'm not even fucking joking, that was a thing, a confirmed fucking decision.
They did sober up a bit later. The game then had to be re-designed and re-writen like two times as they were more and more realizing how fucking delusional they were, and how much they harmed their title, but... it was too little, too late. They had cut the sister chatter, but half of the game was now designed to facilitate exposition anyway.
Now they are making some shitty mobile game for the PubG guys. They did talk about how they would like to go back and make Subnautica 2, and go back to the roots of the original game, but it's not coming any time soon, if at all.
>Basic shit like removing gloves from the player character so that player would be consistently reminded that she is black
Did the dev actually say this or are you being schizo?
>socialism is the collective ownership of the means of production.
And how is that different from what he said? Not everyone will want to put in the same effort in your leftists utopia, therefor the the social structure will need to leech of of as many as possible in order to create something of an economy, unless of course you force people against their will. This of course does not cover the disproportionate desires and wants of the populace. Capitalism is the only system that's been able to balance productivity with people's individual wants and desires. Socialism will only work if there is no individual.
>but I fail to see why this is a bad thing unless you're a L33T gamer sub-human devoid of empathy.
You fail to see why some games should have higher difficulty than the average? As usual the leftist touts the 'empathy' word as though it means something.
Its the first game but with a more linear story who cares its not claiming to be subnautica 2 its just a small dlc why you so butthurt faggot?
>Did the dev actually say this or are you being schizo?
The whole situation started with a thread on the game's official forums, where people pointed out this incredibly silly decision (removal of the gloves), especially since the game takes place in fucking freezing water. Believe it or not, quite a few actual divers would often hang out there, one of them pointing out that in these kinds of conditions, tiny rip in your suit is enough to kill you in two minutes, so this is just silly.
The response of the dev was that he will not discuss this with racist, bigots and that we are welcome to not play the game, and the thread got locked up.
I'd link it, but it unsurprisingly got all deleted not long after. I've heard the conflict continued on social media, but I don't follow those, so I can't confirm or deny that.
Yeah, those were pretty fucking wild days. I wish I was making this shit up. Ironically, I don't care if the character is black at all, and I don't think anyone in that thread did. People just found it absolutely silly.
>game called subnautica
>large portion of the map is devoted to a shitty empty land segment that’s plagued with snowstorms that blind you
What were they thinking?
It's already a meme. They started banning any discussion about her not wearing a proper diving suit with gloves for racism.
>a little problem here, my character is black.
>i tried technical troubleshooting of the problem, i need assistance
If this was a troll, well done.
this is a dead beaten horse. the first game was a complete accident and the devs have all but said as much explicitly. it cannot be stressed enough - not one good thing about the first game was a conscious design decision but the work of dedicated solo auteurs in the company. once the original was successful, the farts intoxicated the political activist lead developers (like they always do) and they took a more hands-on role, completely deleting the horror elements, firing their sound guy because he had the wrong politics, and adding a bunch of pozz to salt the wound.
>. it cannot be stressed enough - not one good thing about the first game was a conscious design decision
That is really not true. They knew what they are doing.
They also knew what they are doing with Bellow Zero. Their priorities just changed.
>firing their sound guy because he had the wrong politics
the sound design in the first game was incredible, fucking hell
