First game I bought was Tony Hawk and I had issues with the cloud save. First day I played it was fine, the second day I played for about 4-5 hours, made tons of progress decide to head to bed. Wake up next day to find that my cloud saves rolled me back. Epic is like the dollar store version of steam to day one. Current recognition is centered on fortnite which is fleeting. I only check them out for free games and even then I almost never play them after adding them. Sales mean nothing if the games they're selling are only worth pirating. Tim is also a lying faggot.

We didn't need a digital storefront in the first place. It literally killed physical PC games.
Then, stream becomes so profitable that every dev saw dollar signs and wanted a slice of the pie, segmenting the market, requiring multiple accounts and software you don't want or need, etc.
Epic is the result of the Fortnite money printer shitting out software that has enough backing to actually take Steam on. Steam, for all its faults, is an established hub for PC gaming. Some people have a library of games thousands deep, but they're expected to abandon it for a handful of free games and some exclusivity deals. It's fucking pathetic.
Console gaming isn't perfect either but if you're not pirating games the PC gaming infrastructure is fucking garbage sometimes.

I have it installed because it's the only way to play THPS 1 + 2 on PC, and I got it for dirt cheap, otherwise I've never played a single game they've given for free, all of them are shit. That said, I've never run into any problems with it other than the fact that you need to be online to play the game.

I'm pretty much a normalfag. Me and my brother use the same computer and have diffferent Steam profiles. When he bought games, I could play it from my account and viceversa.
When he bought something in EGS, and I tried to play it in my account, it wouldn't let me play it, saying I didn't own it and needed to switch profiles.
I'm not buying any more shit in EGS just because of that.

They brought all the baggage of console wars to PC by enforcing exclusivity for games, sometimes to the point where a game on Steam is eventually yanked from it. That alone earns them my ire.

It's because they bribe devs for exclusivity. People don't like it when Epic pays in order to remove all their alternative purchasing options, which is entirely understandable. The store is also fundamentally shit, because it's severely lacking in basic features and doesn't have anything it does better than others to set it apart, so in other words from a customer's point of view there's literally no reason to prefer spending your money on Epic, but there IS reason to prefer other options. The game selection is also quite small, it just isn't a store where one simply goes to purchase video games. You only touch it if there's no other choice or they're giving you something for free.
