Also, why is FFVI such a perfect FF? It still doesn't trump VII or XII on a personal level, but I do feel like this game realizes its full vision better than any FF. From character progression/customization through Espers, to WoR being a great 3rd act to the first two acts in WoB, to the game going from linear to fully open respectively in both worlds. I just feel like this game has a sense of completion and totality that no other mainline FF has.
>not keeping the team phantom train together
one team should be shadow, sabin, cyan as they're obviously bros after the shit they went through together. Then throw in gau cause if you got him he floated down the river with them, but I would put relm as a mage to balance the rest of the lads out
Espers were a decent mechanic, it ultimately just came down to teaching everyone Ultima and spamming that shit in the late game though. Magic is OP and you can just spam ethers because they are sold in shops for not much money. Best part of the game is the huge roster of optional characters, was really fun finding new characters just exploring the open world. Also like how no part of the story lingered too long, modern FF beats you over the head with cutscenes.
8.5/10. Switch Terra and Strago, switch Setzer and Mog and then switch Mog and Gogo. But honestly many combinations do work since they're fleshed out
I'd swap Mog and Relm for thematic purposes. Everyone in group 1 except Relm is sort of a loner, and though she is Shadow's daughter, she doesn't know that. Put her with Strago. Mog is kind of a loner, so he belongs in group 1.
trade strago and setzer
Shadow left so early during that section for me, he never even saw the train. I also don't want to split up the brothers. Gau is locked to Sabin and Cyan. They were there when we met Gau's dad.
Thinking about replaying again myself now that I have my Steam Deck.
Stick to the SNES version? Or is the Pixel Remaster the way to go?
From what I've seen, Pixel Remaster just needs the character sprites replaced with their originals and the font fixed. Both pretty easy fixes.
SNES version I'm playing is the GBA Script minus Popculture References Romhack, and to me it's been a pretty flawless experience that felt very true to the original game.
I watched quite a bit of the Pixel Remaster, and it seems like a nice way to replay the game. They did some pretty cool touch ups to certain scenes.
Swap Relm for Gogo, since Gogo is secretly Setzer's lost love, be sure to give Gogo the Blitz command.
Swap Strago for Umaro since Umaro and Mog are buds.
For the Lulz make the party Cyan, Mog, Umaro, and Gau. What could go wrong?
I like Terra with Shadow because I feel like he gives her pretty good advice at certain times and it felt like Terra connected more to him more than anyone else.
And I like Relm with Shadow since she gets along so well with Interceptor.
>since Gogo is secretly Setzer's lost love,
WHOA WHAT
Shadow, Relm, Strago are one team for the lore
Mog and Umaro also go together. Gogo can gogo with them.
Locke, Celes, Edgar, Terra though this is probably too stacked
Sabin, Cyan, Gau, and Setzer
pick three of these
is Brave New World worth playing?
Its an old fan theory since in the game it looks like the Falcon crashes into Triangle Island.
What about:
>Team Family:
Terra, Shadow, Relm, Strago
>Team Bro:
Edgar, Sabin, Cyan, Gau
>Team Lovebirds:
Seltzer, Gogo, Locke, Celes
I know that Terra isn't related to Relm, Shadow, and Strago, but I feel pretty strongly about the scenes Terra and Shadow share. Only problem is team family is hugely stacked magic wise and leaves team bro a little wanting outside of Gau who is decent in magic.
Yes, Gogo was intended to be Adlai Stevenson, the now deceased former governor of Illinois.
Wait, shit, I mean Darill
It just lacks the best ost (which would be ff4 btw).
How would you rate Kefka as a character? He's a good antagonist?
Not really. I shutter at the cringe that would ensue from his character in a remake. Only really works for a cartoony SNES game with no voice acting.
