Be me

>be me
>finally get a job
>buy a new OLED TV with my first pay
>excitedly dust off my PS4 to try it out
>play Ratchet and Clank remake, it's depressing, bland and Hollywood bad
>play Last of Us remastered, get depressed because it's shit and bland
>Same shit with God of War
>play Bloodborne, better gameplay but it's depressing too
>Fuck it
>Connect my switch instead
>play few rounds of Mario Kart and jump around in Mario Odyssey
>Bright, cheerful and colorful, videogamey, arcade, jazzy music, and SOUL
>feel better once again

is it only me who feels like this that most modern games are shitty copies of films and just aren't fun?

>have a shit life
>expecting entertainment to drown it out
Endure the pain like a real man, raw.

No, it's not just you. Don't let shills and zoomer retards convince you that it's your fault.

Video games haven't been good since 2007.

I don't know how anyone can still be a consolefag in 2022 unless they are a gamer girl tier casual. The good games still coming out are 80% PC games and 20% Switch

>games that are meant to be depressing vs games that are not

What did you expect?

Where I fall off is in the library size. Imagine having a library of games to chose from, and that library has a limit to how many games you have to chose from. Steam alone has over 10 000 games, and that's not taking into account any other storefront, or emulation or just free games made by passionate creators that they distribute themselves.
>q-quality over quantity!
Quality is subjective, quantity is not.

but that's the question isn't it, why are the vast majority of games hyper focused on realistic story telling if video games are meant to be an escape from the very same reality? I would rather be a ridiculous orange Bandicoot or a blue hedgehog than be Nathan Drake or whoever with the cringey dialogue

>80% PC games and 20% Switch
you could've just said 100% PC since every major switch exclusive is on pc thanks to emulation, there is literally no reason to own a switch other than "muh portability" which by the way playing games on your switch in public makes you look like a fucking retard

Not everyone equates escapism with bright colours and childish regressions. Some people can find escapism in dark and mature fiction, since it is more eventful and out of the ordinary than than everyday life.

play jap games you stupid bitch, who gives a fuck about movie games

R&C remake has more colours and fun than mario ofyssey though. It’s also so fast paced you can play it in one sitting. How the fuck did you get the idea it was bland and depressing is beyond me

>is it only me who feels like this that most modern games are shitty copies of films and just aren't fun?

It's mostly just SNOY

You are going to die in inconceivable amounts of pain one day.

There are still niche console exclusives that haven't been ported to PC

But playing it on the couch or bed is kino, faggot

Jesus fucking christ you are so gay

American devs are 90% failed movie directors

Tired gamer general?

Because the ‘gamers’ being listened and catered too are the ones that want MUH EXPERIENCE and DEEP NARRATIVE. The game part of it is secondary. Yakuza is a good series that comes to mind as one that embraces its medium while still taking itself seriously. It’s endearing despite more or less being a similar experience over and over. But it knows what it is and that’s what matters.
