>this shit again.
>inb4 "B-but it was done on purpose"
It's still hilarious; I don't give a shit what anyone says. Fuck "journalists".
Also, DLC soon.
Kek.
Yes. I beat cuphead the other day and it was right on the edge of bullshit, but I persevered and finally got through the end. And then I played Rogue Legacy and got my ass kicked a million times by a fucking painting which shoots 20 projectiles while flying at a trillion miles an hour. That one is too bullshit for me.
To be fair, I couldn't jump over a cylinder three times my body height either.
>HP:4
That means that the've already beaten one of the run and gun levels to buy the health talisman
Yes. I didn't like Cuphead
It's a bad tutorial.
The purpose of a tutorial is to explain a mechanic and this one does it in a confusing way. Not just use a gap to dash over? Why introduce dashing by using a combination move (jump dash)? The text does not hint in any way that you should be standing on the previous block. Many players seeing a higher obstacle might assume there is some kind of double jump or wall jump common in this genre, so they autopilot into walking right next to the wall instead of standing on the small block.
It's a press demo build
supreme bait, frogposter-kun
also to add: it does not introduce the mechanic but instead shows an application of the move (reaching higher obstacles)
if the text would be something like "use a combination of jumping and dashing to reach higher obstacles" everything would be clearer
>no argument
I accept your concession
It's imperfect for a person who has literally never played a game before, but it should be enough for a game's journalist.
Was this played by a pigeon or something?
You said the same thing twice just now though.
It doesn't serve it's purpose well. In this case it's a mechanically simple indie game, but bad tutorials exist and this is one of them.
your argument?
tin foil hat time
I believe the guy playing this did that on purpose.
Bird > journalist
>I believe the guy playing this did that on purpose
He absolutely didn't.
To this day, he still searches himself on twitter posts and replies with dry "haha ok guys, it's not funny anymore" tweets to people who never tagged him.
Think about it, in the years since this has happened, it still sits on his mind on a near daily basis.
It haunts him.
Frogposter here, I did something similar.
When I see small obstacle, large obstacle I assume I'm gonna learn a jump and then a double jump (or wall jump). I highly doubt that it's any gamer's instinct to stand on the small obstacle and do a jump dash as the first thing that comes to mind.
Obviously some people will figure it out in 2 tries, others in 10, so this guy might be a bit slow.

the argument is that you do not need to explicitly pop up a text box telling the player how to do something
you can design levels that teach the player through the level design alone

RL is designed to be impossible garbage until you get enough bullshit upgrades after grinding out hundreds of boring runs for money.
