No one has ever been able to convince me that cloning is unethical so I still pirate no matter what. There are services I value and pay for because they offer me more than what piracy gives me but most are a straight downgrade to piracy. The biggest trick I've ever seen is spooks convincing everyone to call copying digital files "piracy" and "theft", giving everyone a certain impression of what the act is without ever thinking about the act. Everyone I know who's anti-piracy was completely chill with recording TV shows off the air onto VHS and even making copies of those VHS's for family.

I don't even buy games I enjoy. I've pirated all of my favorite games too. 20-40$ isn't going to make a difference to the devs considering how little gets to each one in the end, but it does matter to me long term. I've played a lot of games, there's no way I haven't saved at least $5k or way more over the years, especially considering I emulate as well.
