Will it ever be surpassed?

Probably not. tl;dr AAA costs are too high to do a game like that anymore while still satisfying current audience expectations in graphics etc.

also warren spector isn't the same person he was when that game was made so he can't be trusted to do it again

Deus Ex isn't anywhere near as open ended as people like to pretend it is

Do you have a single fact to back that up?

So? being linear isn't bad.

open-endedness isn't why Deus Ex is great. Plenty of rpgs before and after were much more open-ended. Deus Ex is swiss cheese in a box.

Play the game
Deus Ex is pushed as a non-linear game
The fuck is that supposed to mean?

It's not even the best game in the year it came out.

it already was

What's better?

Maybe you should try getting a job?

The main narrative beats are set in stone, but gameplay and flavor choices are yours to make.

How did it manage to predict the future so much?

Each level is a problem with dozens of holes through it. "explore and find your own way". That's not non-linear, it's high choice within a limited frame and progressing in one direction. A sandbox is non-linear but at the highest level Deus Ex is linear as fuck. Liberty Island box, Battery Park box, Versalife box etc. But each box is fantastic.

the one who script this video game convo def read Monalisa Overdrive and the previous Novels by William Gibson

people here dont read come to /lit/ we will sugest you more classics

>Deus Ex is pushed as a non-linear game
You misunderstand then. And maybe its the fault of whoever was spouting this opinion but Deus Ex is linear in location to location but the non-linearity comes from how you handle your objectives. To compare to a truly linear experience like Half-Life, Gordon can only progress mechanically by clearing enemies or environmental puzzles and he has to do this. Gordon can't hack a door to get a code, if its locked it's locked. You'd have to actively break the game to get pass that door only to find an empty space because they didn't bother to map something there. Deus ex is more like a pitchfork in progression rather then being a straight line or a truly open circle.

>bro read more
no. crpg text novels are enough

supremely based.
'he spent all his skill points on his hair'

Are there any games with dialogue/scripts like this? Everything is written so well. Characters, no matter their beliefs, are treated with a level of respect and are fun to talk with.

Just played it this year and was completely floored by how much I enjoyed it.

>Play the game
the irony

I just read the big short, give me some more like neuromancer

This guy FUCKS. OP SUCKS.
