idk man people like them i guess

Turn based combat?
Turn based wombat hahahaha
You're choimg on it dude, LITTERALLY
have you ever even seen it? Scene clips? what are you? Marvel? Pissing on you.

same reason people still play chess and will have forgotten elden ring in 10 years

Because it's fun.

cope

Turn-based combat is the only combat an RPG should have.

Because it's a simple and fun system that fits certain types of games, and fans of such games prefer them.

Why are zoom zooms so against variety in vidya these days? Entire genres seem to be all but massacred in the past 15 years thanks to iPhone kids only playing Souls-shit and casual shooters.

Half-assed rpg/action hybrids like FF15 aren't actually fun, it was just assumed they would be.

if you don't like it then don't play it not everything has to cater to you

I asked for them

Very ironic coming from a jarpig apologizer.

Because it's still fun*.

*Only with a job system / multiclassing and a way to manipulate the speed and number of actions taken in a turn (e.g. the Brave/Default system)

And nobody wants every game to play the same.

Good for people with brain damage, low IQs, or substance abuse issues.

In chess, positioning actually matters though. In menu turn based like in OP's pic, it doesn't because your team and the enemies are not moving anywhere — the battle screen is static. Thus, less variables to consider in every battle. That's why this kind of games always end up with you just mindlessly spamming the strongest skills or elemental weakness every turn until you win the battle.

It suits RPGs better in general and it allows for variations in gameplay action games just can`t accomplish.

It's called turn BASED for a reason user

That's why you pair it with tank controls for the ultimate pleb filter.

Job systems have nothing to do with the combat structure. There are action games with job systems.
Turn manipulation is great though.

cuz its derived from old school DnD games
cuz its comfy
cuz its fun

Final Fantasy is not a turn based...

Yes, but they're the only thing that'll get me to play a turn-based game.

because not every game is made for you personally, nor does it need to be.
