Mandatory Vergil and Jeanne mention.
This was my favorite fight in the game. Yeah yeah, it's not the hardest or the flashiest, but this was where the gameplay and the story really clicked for me and felt at its best.
I dislike his design, but his presentation and the fight really wowed me.
Glad someone mention him. Gen is a pretty cool rival character and arguably the the very boss that will push you to learn to block and parry.
Owl fits better, in gameplay at least
Rival fights are midwitcore, you seen one and you seen them all.
devil hand in god hand
I love how it's both played straight and a joke, like the rest of the game. It really stuck with me for this same reason

yeah, owl is my favorite
>yfw he counters your mikiri counter
>yfw he starts reciting the iron code every time he kills you
>yfw he feigns death only to trick you
Based. Another Joe is very cool. I also love Vorkken, not just from a gameplay perspective (the fight is great) but also just from his voice acting and story arc. Probably my favorite rival out of all the clover/platinum games
Owl is not a rival. He's the father.
Isshin is your rivals grandaddy. Genichiro is your rival
DMC3 Vergil was perfect. In 5 it was forced.
When the game is full of monsters as bosses
Fighting a character with a similar combat style to yours is pretty refreshing
This shit right here
Played OoT for the first time + plus it was my first Zelda. Dark Link fight was kino. The scenery too.
