The company I worked for just fired us all after we finished our work creating assets and helping translate 16 (temp contracted by SE) for the last year so fuck this game.
> A city in Dhalmekia gets destroyed by an "unknown force", politics begin, Dhalmeks blame Iron Kingdom. > Dhalmeks try to ally with Rosaria and get rejected, swears to get revenge. > Dhalmeks begin to win against Iron Kingdom, turn North to take Rosaria. This is the first major field fight. > During the invasion, Rosaria begin to win but are pincer attacked by Sanbreque. > Queue famous cutscene - Clive turns into Ifrit after getting stabbed by cloaked stranger (actual final boss). Joshua sees him die, turns into Phoenix and loses control. Clive revives as Ifrit, Joshua fights him to return him to normal but can't finish him and loses to Hellfire (seen in latest trailer). Flies to South-Waloed. > Clive gets exiled from Rosaria, joins mercenaries, eventually gets into Waloed. They discover who he is, try to capture him and fail. He fights Garuda during the escape, turns into Ifrit again. He wins, Ifrit "eats" part of Garuda's essence giving Clive its powers. > Clive is on the run, heading to the Iron Kingdom. Befriends Cid, dominant of Ramuh who lends you his powers. > Makes it to Iron Kingdom, discovers his mother was born there but sent as a gift to his father for political relations. He meets dominant of Odin, black-haired guy you see in the trailer. > There's a conference between the major cities at Iron Castle for peace. It fails.
> Clive fights Hugo, wins. After taking Titan, has flashback to thousands of years before current timeline. Sees visions of goddess, dragon and universe-demon creature. > Clive goes to Rosaria, kicks out Sanbreque and Dhalmek soldiers, takes his place as rightful heir. > Queue cutscene from trailer - Bahamut's dominant tells King's hand about Clive and his ability to take eikon power. > Final war-run begins. All of the west vs Sanbreque and Waloed's beast tribes. Waloed's main city disagree with Sanbreque and cut ties. > After a full night of fighting, Bahamut beats Ifrit. Odin's dominant is on his way to support Clive's fight. Clive escapes, Odin and Bahamut fight north of Crystalline Dominion. > Before Bahamut is about to kill Odin, Bahamut gets captured using crystal power by Crystalline Dominion. > Crystalline scientist Aldrich sends soldiers to capture Clive, done after Benedikta sells him out. > Aldrich reveals to Clive he is Anima, servant of Diabolos. His plan is to return "everything" to "nothing". > Clive is broken out by Phoenix, Joshua tells Clive he's the only one that can stop what's going to happen. Crystalline dominion is destroyed by Ifrit and Phoenix, Aldrich reveals a deep dungeon below it and tells them to "see for themselves". > It's a tablet written by Asura, goddess of another world. Asura comes to Valisthea on back of Shinryu to escape the blight of Diabolos. But, Asura believes the "child of causality" will be born here to end Diabolos. > Clive has to get stronger to beat Diabolos. Takes the power of Leviathan, Golem etc.

FF16 feels like a generic and boring mess already

> Eventually beats Diabolos, Anima etc. Cloaked guy returns, stabs Clive after he takes their powers, and releases all summons back into their essence to take them himself. The only one missing is Phoenix, who heals him and Joshua sacrifices himself to give Clive another chance. > Reveals he arrived to Valisthea on a meteorite years ago waiting for Clive to appear. > Clive beats Meteorite Dungeon, finds out he was the child of Asura who came to Valisthea to search for his mother. > Clive finds stranger at Rosaria, he mentions all Eikons are fragments of Asura and the land is born from Shinryu's body. They fight, Clive wins.
More to it but that's 90% of the story spoiled. GG SE you played yourself.
sounds boring if true but neat if anima comes back

> Clive then absorbs the power of hormone replacement after the final fight > He must now find the estrogen crystals > FF XVII coming soon!

Adult Jill. She has almost no importance to the story after Clive retakes Rosaria.
There's a nice cutscene at the end of the game after Clive beats the stranger. All of the eikons fix Valisthea, which Diabolos destroyed almost entirely, before they disappear forever.
Genuinely I think this game is going to get a user rating of 7 or 8 out of 10. Critics will give it 9.5, but it's not that worth it honestly. The final boss tries to be more than what he is, but it just devolves into "kill bad guy because he will do bad thing". All of the good writing is thrown out in the last 20% of the game.

Is there any party mechanics or travelling companions like in xiv, or is it just purely a solo adventure?
Jordan Kelly
Firing people right after a project is over is the reason why videogames are turning to shit with people not acquiring enough experience and being disillusioned with the industry and never going back before being replaced by fresh recruits who'll end up in the same cycle
Liam Mitchell
Alright Clive.
