Facebook

No games. It's just for porn and erp in virtual chatrooms and everyone who claims otherwise is lying akin to calling rule34 a meme rather than another word for porn

No developers actually making quality games other than Valve.

headsets that werent hyper niche stopped coming out
theres no new friggin games

COVID-19

is it still worth getting a quest 2 with halo strap at this point? or are there any other noteworthy headsets coming out soon? I do own a ps5 so maybe psvr2?

that girl had a miscarriage because of that accident

Few worthwhile exclusives. Most new titles are only playable with a normal monitor. VR companies are investing more into metaverses and NFTs to please investors rather than giving VR a library to compete with consoles and PC. At least modded Skyrim is giving me a reason to keep my headset.

Will she meet her unborn child in a dystopian VR simulation?

lol

did she died?

what people expected
>actual virtual reality, with your brain being tapped into the virtual world
what we got
>a screen glued to your face

COVID was the biggest boon VR could've had. I bought a headset specifically because of the lockdown.

Developers refuse to make proper games for it.

Valve is such a bunch of retarded Jews for putting out the Index and making precisely 1 game for it. fuck these companies

yeah more people bought quest 2s but it stunted the growth of the hardware advancement massively
still seeing delays as new-covid re-spreads through china for the upteenth time as I wait for another kickstarter HMD

Nothing. The tech and hardware is still in it's infancy. Unlike dumb shit like 3D, VR actually is the future.

not until I can buy haritorax in Europe it isn't

nips plz my room is tiny I have lots of cozy blankets and can't afford almost 1k

Index did numbers at the start of the pandemic but Valve isn't committed to going full hardware company. If you want to say Facebook is killing VR, I'm not gonna disagree.

Everything. Terrible hardware, no games, it's the biggest waste of time ever. Wish I just spent the 300 bucks I spent on a new CPU or something, it'd be a little more useful. After you get through the half a dozen titles of any value, you might as well throw the thing away.

A good comparison in terms of cost and utility would be something like a wheel and pedals for sims. You pay hundreds of dollars, you only get to play a handful of games with them, but the difference is that driving is actually fun and the immersion of a wheel moving around is way better than strapping a screen to your face. My most played VR title (H3VR) has 40 hours of play. Assetto Corsa, a game in which I only use ONE CAR on ONE MAP has already entertained me for 60 hours.

Valve's focus has clearly been on the Steam Deck for a while
some of the Steam Deck's RND is tied to the Deckard patents but they're very tight-lipped about things until they're just about to launch usually
even when we had picture leaks of the Index HMD they said nothing for quite a while
Facebook/Meta killing vr is another story because ecosystem bla bla mobile-tier garbage and exclusives yadda yadda

I'd go farther and say that more games are improved with a wheel than VR right now. Even really old games without FFB are better with a wheel. That and you can use a wheel with emulators too. My G29 is natively supported by Dolphin for instance.

I still think the endgame for flat panel displays are AR planes you can project on any surface at any size and resolution, and they'll be as 3D as looking through a window. Playing games in 3D isn't dumb, the hardware required to pull it off today is.

a gimmick will never stop being a gimmick if they make it an optional thing.

>VR companies are investing more into metaverses and NFTs to please investors
I'm not sure this is true. Facebook is chasing its completely autistic idea of "metaverse" with its shitty VRChat clone, but I think the web3 grifters just decided to co-op the language to try to push their crypto scams. The VR companies that make games continue to make games. They're just mostly bad at it if we're being honest. Even if you want to be charitable to B-level studios and indies, the reality is that most VR games suck, and suck especially bad because what they're compared against is the handful of promising and ambitious tech demos that show off potential VR gameplay without the burden of actually having to make a game. People with VR headsets already have extremely high standards despite not really having any games that meet all of those standards.

And I don't mean GPU requirements. I mean shit like 3D glasses or the 3DS screen.

You were too poor to even afford a quest 2 at 299 even though it's objectively the best gaming console on the market right now. Otherwise nothing.

nothing but low budget mobile-tier games

*co-opt, not co-op

She actually did die. She was hit by a drunk driver a month after this was filmed.

High barrier or entry + no games

That's more because VR really doesn't add anything to most games. A wheel is useful even in 270 degree titles.

I've been meaning to give F-zero GX a chance, but I haven't gotten around to it yet. PCSX2 support is good, although the FFB implementation in GT4 is dogshit.
