ER’s problem isn’t that it’s repetitive, it’s that it severely drops off in quality. The reused bosses suck, sure, but that’s only part of the issue. Xcom and Jade Cocoon might get repetitive but they don’t have horrific drops in the quality of the game.

Open world was shit, but when you were in the cities, dungeon and whatnot. It was pretty good. The problem is the shit is the majority of the game.

Said nobody ever. Elden Ring’s second half is a glorified hallway with absolutely nothing of interest you until the final boss fights. Mountaintop, Consecrated Snowfield and Crumbling Farum are absolutely shite.

Every open world game reuses pretty much all of its content. BOTW you get 4 of the same Ganon ghost bosses and in Skyrim you fight the same Draugr/Humans in every dungeon/cave that all look mostly the same.
