Why is the industry in a constant state of turmoil?

Are video games just a terrible hobby or do all hobbies lead to misery if you're invested/hardcore enough?

You need to stop getting your hopes up for godawful gaming event shows.

It's because normies got involved.

;_;

my hopes couldn't have been lower

it's not just gaming, all pop culture has stagnated. creators can't make anything new for a number of reasons, and consoomers don't want anything new.

Yeah that's fine, considering the video game industries idea of "new" is the same regurgitated indie, top down, rogue lite genres. I'm fine with just playing the same established franchises forever, but even that they REFUSE to give us. Why is there never a new Metal Gear game? Why is there never a new Jak and Daxter? New Persona? Any franchise that isn't just Assassins Creed and Call of Duty is so fucking rare to get anything new from.

Just be like me. I was never really all that investment in many TV shows/games/movies, etc. So whenever I hear people complaining about a shitty reboot, weather it be woke garbage, an unfaithful remake, shittly made, or if the creators you love turn out to be pedophiles, I feel next to nothing because I invested my soul into very few things. Such as lego, even though they came for that shit too and it still pissed me off, but at that point I grew out of it and found making my own content was more fun anyway.

Or just go to a retro game store and pick up games from days past that you missed out on.

stop playing modern trash

I primarily play old games, but every year I get hopeful for that morsel of ps2 and earlier era gaming goodness.

No can do, my life would be miserable if it weren't for getting invested in all sorts of media and arts.

Video games are a shit hobby if that's the only thing you do all day. You'll eventually run out of good games to play and the absolute state of the modern game industry results in barely any new games worth playing. If you have other hobbies taking up your time, your backlog should last you a while to go through all the good games made before 2010

I know how you feel. Which is why I try not to get too close to them, because I know some passionless bastard is gonna reboot them for a quick buck and do all sorts of shit to ruin it. And when that does happen for a franchise I had no investment in and I see how angry fans are, I just think "few. Glad I wasn't a fan of that thing or else I'd be just as upset as these guys." but either way it still happened to the things I loved anyway. I only felt less upset because I was invested in less things.

But within the past few years I took up game design/modeling and it's been more fun than playing any modern trash. Yeah it fucks to do all that hard work, but the satisfaction of finally reaching your goals makes it all worth it in the end. So if you feel like you can't enjoy anything, you can try to develop your own content if you have the time and patience for it. Most of the materials you need for it like unity/unreal and Blender are free too. Or you can just pirate shit. Who fucking cares?

So much this

all my other hobbies that used to bring me joy have begun to make me miserable... Theyre experiencing the same turmoil as the video game industry. Is it just the way it goes with capitalism?

>constant state of turmoil
Elaborate? Because it seems to me they just can't stop licking Twitter's boots just like Hollywood and cable television networks. And yes, all things eventually go to shit as soon as they gain any sort of popularity. There's an image around here somewhere that explains how it happens.

>Elaborate
Constant remakes, remasters. Companies completely out of touch with consumers. Constant delays. Industry holding ip's hostage out of spite or refusing to port them to modern hardware. Games as a service and games pass/cloud gaming a glimpse at a terrible future for games. NFTs, Gachas, Free to Play P2W grindfest, Lootboxes, infesting everything like aids. Creativity stagnant, everything that isn't triple A shlock is low poly, pastel colored Journey rip offs. Games shipping in broken unplayable states is completely acceptable now.

I'm sure I'm forgetting many things.

Get some hobbies that involve making something instead of consuming media. Painting, woodworking, learning an instrument, etc. don't have modern industries to fuck them up since you just do them. It's completely independent from the soulless culture we have now that's ruined video games, movies, and music

I have lots of those hobbies, they bring me misery for personal reasons, but I know that's part of the process at getting better at something or being so good you strive for perfection. That's besides the point because we need to balance those productive hobbies with passive hobbies like gaming/movies/music.

This. Making your own content is much more fulfilling than dabbling in someone elses. Thats why I was able to hold onto lego for so long.

Loads of reasons
>big money involved
>normie tier hobby
>censorship
>woke agenda
>general decline of the West into degeneracy
>creatives ran off and replaced with niggers, women, trannies and pajeets
>general lack of creativity
>push towards graphics/performance over actual innovation and quality
>typical AAA shit like Assassins creed, COD, Battlefield make money by being glorified casinos
>people addicted to ADD shit with low attention spans so developers cater to this
>your dopamine receptors being blown out like 99% of gamers
>you no longer being a kid without responsibility
>passion no longer there. Those who are forced to make indie shit

Too much to list.
I think These guys makena good point. Don't invest yourself too much in a hobby that inevitably will disappoint you. Learn to let go.
Obviously there may be the odd thing that will come along now and then but for the most part replace a lot of your gaming time with other stuff.

Also try new shit. If youve never played a certain genre of games or a particular series because you didn't think you'd like it, give it a chance.

your list is just capitalism working as intended
