he was right you know
He was right you know
>a press and half a press are different inputs
>HUH NOOO YOU CANT MAKE A DISTINCTION
Crazy that this debate went on for longer than it should have.
theres no 0.5 in binary dumbo
It was a terrible choice for a term whose definition only existed in the head of an autist.
>A Press (without release)
>A Press (full release)
Was that so hard?
It's either on or off, he's right. We're not talking about a bench press or anything.
The porn of the yoshi was worth it.
the way you describe it doesn't adequetly explain the concept. The purpose of calling it a "half A-Press" is to give context to a specific task in an A Button Challenge (that is, demonstrating one level in an A Button Challenge instead of the whole run). If he was doing the full challenge, the A button press would have counted as one, but since he plays the level in isolation already holding down A (which changes Mario's properties) and doesn't release or press A again, it wouldn't be accurate to say it was 1 button press or 0 button presses, but more fitting to call it a Half A-Press.
It's just an unfortunate name that invites a different interpretation from what is meant
>being accurate about whether he releases the button or not matters
Okay
You'd think a genuine autist like Pancuck would have come up with a better name
It doesn't matter when he releases the button since it serves practically no function besides resetting the character controller for another A press. Holding the A button matters since it changes the character controller.
He was never right.
He just wants to be the greatest at the A button challenge, so he tried to change the interpretation of what an A button press was. It's just an autist trying to game the system
>Within my group we challenge ourselves to fully press and release a as little as possible
>NO DONT DO THAT IM NOT A MEMBER OF THIS COMMUNITY BUT I WILL DICTATE YOUR RULES!
"Henry" later admit he was wrong
There's not really any room for interpretation with a digital button. It's either 1 or 0.
The video explains this. Watch the fucking video. It's not notated as a press because the primary purpose of the press is for the jump, the jump is used prior to entering the level and the A button is held which alters some of Mario's characteristics. Does he jump within the level? No, but he also is taking advantage of the altered characteristics, so it's notated as a half A press ONLY WITHIN THE LEVEL. In a full level the full A press is noted
In a full run*
He should have just had a separate counter for held As
Okay TJ "Anonymous" Yoshi
Honstly the distinction only matters because he's doing a run to limit the amount of times he presses the down (and releases) the A button. If he releases it, it counts as one full press. Though I agree with what said.
on-key-press and on-key-release are the two halves of an a press.
How the game processes the input has nothing to do with the actuation of a button. He fully pressed the button, there's literally no reality that exists where he can half press a button. I don't know why Nintendo spergs do this but they're constantly coming up with the most obtuse and unintuitive terms in order to explain something that is easily explained another way. I get what he means but he picked the dumbest possible name.
So why hold down the A button, exactly? Does it make Mario more floaty or something?
Noone is arguing that he only half presses the button. It's just shorthand notation for "The A button was pressed prior to level entry" watch the video
What a retarded fallacy. Hope you're just doing this for (you)s
I fucking miss pannen. His videos are such a treasure.
It's a way of speaking for the sole purpose of demonstration retardo
ps2 controllers had pressure sensitive face buttons so definitely not
uh oh, how do we get him?
You can swim and do tiny jump kicks necessary to walk up slopes you aren’t supposed to be able to
