Unironically agree. Entry level but so good that even a diehard RPG player can enjoy it for what it is. Helps that the level cap and overall game length is pretty short so it doesn't overstay it welcome by having you fight the post-game infinity level+++ ultimate ultra hidden god of gods boss that you can only access by doing all of the stupid bullshit chores that the devs really don't want you to skip out on. Mario RPG you trade an item that you can get literally 5 steps away from the store you got it from to get a key to fight the optional boss.
I argue Morrowind did the sandbox thing better without giving you items that turn it outright into a joke. On Morrowind you gotta learn the game and learn how to break the system. On Elden Ring your options are either ignoring everything or "you didn't beat the game" bullshit by turning it into baby mode by simply using the options the game toss at you. Elden Ring is fun don't get me wrong but it was poorly designed. Look at Mario RPG as an example of entry level without insulting the player, you are still expected to find shit on your own including a missable hidden block that you could had only know of by playing the game til the last village at least once. Elden Ring is an entry level Dark Souls game without teaching players how to play the rest of the series. It failed at the one thing it was aiming to do. It just a piss easy game better off being in it own bubble.
