larping is just roleplaying in real life, retards

'larp' literally stands for 'live action roleplaying'.

meaning literally 'doing it irl'
'irl' meaning 'in real life'.
Most people on Any Forums use the word wrong.

Roleplaying are RPG games. This is LARPing

They are the same thing. Stupid fuck
Only that one is Live Action Roleplaying while the other one is in fiction.

When someone makes fake scenarios of their Skyrim wife in their head, they are LARPING. Said content is NOT in game, they are just imagining, like how fat neckbeards in basements do when they disguise as a wizard and pretend to cast spells.

Clicking a dialogue option in RPGs that actually give those to you, like Fallout or Pathfinder, is actual roleplaying.

zoomers just think larp sounds funnier and misuse it

This might be the most retarded thread ever created if genuine.

I think it poses an interesting question. Is it roleplaying to make up a character and scenarios in your head that are not acknowledged by the game itself? Are you really a paladin if the game offers you little to no paladin choices and dilemmas?

yeah? it only becomes LARP if you start dressing up and doing it outside with other people

No, not really. It's just a dumb semantics argument to waste time.
Yes, you are roleplaying.
No, you aren't a paladin, you are role playing.
If you are Role Playing a Paladin and the game isn't giving you paladin stuff, then you're role playing as a paladin.
This is painfully stupid.

This, sick of this shit.

This

You're getting stuck in definitions and missing the actual point, LARP is obviously used in this context to draw a parallel between RPG players making shit up about their characters' backgrounds, even when none of the options and dialogues presented in-game acknowledge those made up scenarios

What species are these guys?

>LARP is obviously used in this context
And it's wrong. It's not correct.

youre just thinking of having an imagination

>butthurt retard trying to redefine the meaning of a word because he got called a retard for getting it wrong
it's more common than you'd think

It gets the point across well enough, you're just being pedantic and refusing to understand subtext. It's as dumb as getting worked up over someone calling a biscuit a cookie or viceversa

no you're just wrong

youre not role playing anything if youre thinking it in your head. thats like calling an authors and artists roleplayers

In the ttrpg space it's called ROLEplaying vs ROLLplaying. The later may care about the story but they also care more about getting loot and playing as optimally as possible. While the ROLEplayer usually cares about playing well they put more emphasis on immersion in the setting.
