Not really. Most game remakes have been semi-justified by the fact that there used to be such massive leaps in tech that the old versions became outdated rather quickly and the remakes would be massively improved visually from the ogs while updating the gameplay to modern standards. Shit hasn't changed much since The Last of Us. Animation and texturing has improved slightly, but not by a revolutionary degree. And gameplay has not really changed at all, honestly. It's just an utterly pointless remake. Even the RE4 remake, which is unnecessary, at least the original is old enough that the gameplay is somewhat outdated. Last of Us doesn't even have that excuse, it's basically still a modern game with crappy textures.

We dont know, some games have only 6 month exclusivity like borderlands.
