i don't see the logic behind TF2C's community being as large as it is, given that nobody touches the beta elements that aren't the civilian (and only that because they have to, payload is a better concept and better executed) and most of the focus is on silly and semi-silly community servers with unlock weapons lifted from retail or completely custom weapons, but TF2C, steam's own player counts for TF2 and the knowledge that there are 10,000 or fewer bots contributing to shitting up a game with many more players, open fortress, TF2 vintage, and other "TF2 reclamation" projects are all proof that TF2 isn't dead and can't be argued to be
