It's a good game to do in longer doses. I have to play for 2+ hours whenever I do. It has a good level of lore and side quests without overwhelming the main story. Combat is tactical, but not so strategic that it's a chore. Strikes a good balance.
Heard the sequels weren't' good though. Don't know if I will play any after finishing 1.

2 is alright, more streamlined and polished, but also less ambitious and soulful.
3 has the best combat and mechanics, but the story is completely retarded.

The reapers motivations should've never been blatantly explained. They were better as an unknowable, lovecraftian horror. The explanation should've been hidden in bits and pieces throughout the three games and even then it still shouldn't have explained everything. Also the protheans should've been treated the same way and we never get to see their appearance or talk to a living one. Javik ruined them by making them into a boring dime a dozen militaristic empire instead of the gracious, nonviolent race they came across as in me1.
